Technical Expert 2-Stroke

We are now looking for a passionate and technically skilled Technical Expert, 2-Stroke to join our Technical Services Mediterranean team in Moschato, Greece. 

 

In this role, you will support both internal and external customers with operational technical inquiries related to Wärtsilä 2-stroke engines and their control systems. Through your expertise, you will help ensure reliable engine operation, effective troubleshooting, and high-quality service delivery, contributing directly to customer satisfaction and long-term performance. 

 

You will report to the General Manager, Technical Services Mediterranean Region and collaborate closely with field service teams, customers, and technical specialists across the organization. 

 

Your role and responsibilities  

 

As a Technical Expert 2-Stroke, you will focus on these responsibilities: 

 

  • Provide expert technical support for Wärtsilä 2-stroke engines and associated control systems. 

  • Resolve complex technical inquiries from customers and field service teams, both remotely and on-site. 

  • Support installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and operational optimization activities. 

  • Analyze technical issues and develop practical, customer-focused solutions. 

  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to improve service processes, product reliability, and operational performance. 

  • Build strong relationships with customers, suppliers, subcontractors, and service partners. 

  • Prepare and maintain technical documentation, reports, recommendations, and support materials. 

  • Share knowledge, coach colleagues, and contribute to the development of technical expertise across the team. 

  • Promote a strong safety culture in every aspect of service delivery. 

 

Requirements for the position  

 

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent technical education. 

  • Experience in a service support, field service, or engineering role, particularly within the marine industry and preferably with Wärtsilä products. 

  • Solid understanding of 2-stroke engine operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting. Experience with Wärtsilä engines is highly valued. 

  • Strong motivation and genuine interest in marine 2-stroke engine technology. 

  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues. 

  • A safety-first mindset. 

  • Excellent communication, analytical, and organizational skills. 

  • Customer-focused mindset with a proactive and service-oriented approach. 

  • Ability to work effectively in a multicultural and cross-functional environment. 

  • Fluent written and spoken English and Greek. 

  • Willingness to travel occasionally (up to 35% of the working days). 

 

As an ideal candidate you might also have… 

 

  • Experience with non-Wärtsilä marine engines. 

  • Some knowledge and understanding of engine automation. 

  • Background in field service support for marine propulsion or power generation systems. 

  • Experience driving continuous improvement initiatives and operational enhancements. 

  • Previous mentoring, coaching, or technical leadership experience. 

  • Knowledge of customer relationship management and stakeholder engagement practices.
