Automation Software Engineer

Wärtsilä's business unit in Moss, Norway, is at the forefront of manufacturing exhaust gas abatement solutions for the international commercial shipping market. We are proud to offer industry-leading technology for onboard carbon capture and storage (CCS), a technology we currently are piloting and intend to launch within a year.

 

At Wärtsilä Moss, Norway, we have a state-of-the-art research and test facility where we can simulate vessel installations of exhaust treatment technologies in various configurations. This facility is also home to our team of CCS experts, covering all aspects from sales to life cycle support.

Join us in maintaining and developing our market-leading position in the Decarbonisation and Exhaust Gas Treatment. We now have an opening for an Automation Software Engineer, to be based in Moss, Norway.
 

What you will be doing

As Senior Software Automation Engineer, you will be part of a highly motivated multidiscipline organization providing engineering for our Exhaust Treatment technologies, covering both new-build and upgrade projects.

 

Your work will focus on these responsibilities:

  • Develop, program and deliver software
  • Testing of PLC/HMI as well as other electrical/electronic components
  • Support already delivered projects with troubleshooting and upgrades
  • Contribute to the further development of new and existing solutions
     

To be successful in this role, we expect you to have:

  • Higher education (e.g., bachelor's or master's degree) in electrical and/or automation.
  • Experience and interest in programming and development within PLC and HMI
  • Strong communication skills in English, both written and oral. Fluency is Norwegian is an advantage
  • Can-do attitude, and problem solving and decision-making skills
  • Understanding and interest in the interaction between process and automation
  •  Accurate, reliable, and loyal
  • Team player
