IT Project Manager

Wartsila Voyage Services is now looking for an IT Project Manager to drive and deploy Maritime Simulation and Shore-Based systems projects. The preferred location for the position is in Nantes, France.
What will you be doing?
In this position you will be accountable for accomplishing the stated project objectives with appropriate quality, focusing on:
- Managing the triple constraint for projects which are cost, time, and scope.
- Reviewing the design (including the scope and cost estimation), installation (including management of external resources), and initial support of allocated projects.
When necessary, you will also perform needed tasks as a Field Engineer.
As IT Project Manager, your work will focus on these responsibilities:
• Assist the Sales Manager in reviewing a competent project offer, specifically focused on the technical solution, scope of supply, necessary resources for project deployment, schedule, risks, and cost
• Manage the end-to-end delivery of projects within own responsibility
• Adhere to internal company and functional policies and procedures, and work according to the Commercial Project Management process adopted and utilized by Wartsila, using appropriate tools
• Identify and manage project dependencies and critical path, resolving any issues and conflicts within the project team
• Proactively manage changes in project scope, schedule, and cost, identify potential crises, and devise contingency plans. Escalate changes that affect project cost or payment milestones to Project Sponsor, plan countermeasures
• Close project, conduct project evaluation, identify and report most successful and unsuccessful project elements for knowledge base
• Perform allocated works: Installation, participation in FAT/SAT, local coordination of works with customer’s representatives and other suppliers
• Review project technical specification and scope of supply
• Identify and evaluate technical solutions, preferred models and vendors for 3rd party equipment which is to be used within the scope of supply
• Act as Company representative and provide customer support by email, phone, and on-site participation in customer visits
• Perform quality control of completed job(s) and follow Quality Management system requirements
• Continuous improvement of professional competence
• Adhere to health and safety requirements of Wartsila and/or locals, whichever applies

The below will enable you to shine in this role:
• Higher technical education; BS or above
• Deep and broad experience with IT environments including network, computers, operating systems and related technologies
• Proactive approach to work, able to jump in, ramp-up and independently manage own portfolio of work
• Demonstrable experience of PC/network installation and commissioning
• Experience with troubleshooting / fault finding.
• Excellent communication skills, with a proven ability to engage with a wide range of stakeholders both internally and externally, written and verbal
• French and English spoken and written incl. technical English
• Working knowledge of MS Windows, MS Office, IT hardware, and tools
You may have an advantage with:
• Electronics certification
• Experience with CAD and Visio
• Maritime background
Due to the nature of the role, you will be required to travel up to 40% of the time.
