We are looking for a Service Engineer Propulsion to carry out complex field service activities on Wartsila Propulsion equipment within the team, including commissioning, sea trial, repair and maintenance.
The preferred location for this position is Naples, Italy but also Genova and Trieste can be considered. In this position, when you are not working in the field, remote working is an option too.
Your role and responsibilities
As a Service Engineer Propulsion, your tasks will include:
- Performing advanced troubleshooting on-site to identify and resolve root causes of failures in propulsion equipment.
- Inspecting completed work to ensure repairs have been finalized correctly.
- Preparing detailed technical and travel reports.
- Operating primarily in the field, maintaining direct communication and relationships with clients.
- Adjusting tasks based on your individual skills and interests.
- Collaborating as part of a multicultural and highly technical team with diverse expertise.
Requirements for the position
- Technical high school diploma in Mechanical and/or Hydrodynamics, or a bachelor’s degree in marine engineering, Electrical, or Electronics.
- Willingness and ability to travel extensively, work abroad, and operate on board sailing vessels.
- Knowledge of PLC systems.
- Hands-on experience in electrical troubleshooting in the field.
- Proficiency in computer skills, including the MS Office suite.
- Strong command of English, both written and verbal.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Highly motivated to learn through classroom and field training, with a desire to grow professionally.
- Team-oriented mindset, with the ability to follow directives and collaborate with people from diverse nationalities and cultures.
- This role requires 70-80% of your time to be spent traveling and working in the field.
As an ideal candidate you might also have...
- Propulsion equipment technical knowledge, FPP, CPP, Tunnel Thrusters, Steerable Thruster, Propeller lines
- Previous experience working in the Field, on Marine Engines.
