Wartsila Caribbean, Inc. is looking for a Mechanical Technician to join our dynamic, fast-paced mechanical maintenance team at our Bahamas branch, located in team in Nassua, Bahamas.

 

What will you be doing

As a Mechanical Technician you will be responsible for the economical and safe operations and maintenance of the power plant during your designated shift, complying with all safety regulations including isolation, lock out and tag out.

 

The ideal candidate has a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering and previous mechanical maintenance experience.

 

As a Mechical Technician you will focus on these responsibilities:

  • Maintaining the machines and auxiliary equipment in good conditions of cleanliness, taking the necessary steps for the prevention and correction of the found abnormalities.
  • Reconditioning of engine components, overhauling of engine components.
  • Isolating and preparing for the stopping and starting of engines, be able to resolve possible flaws that occurs during the starting and stopping.
  • Carrying out corrective inspections of all mechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic equipment and supervision of the engines.
  • Resetting alarmed equipment on plant panels, be able to identify the alarms which occurred in the electric panels and equipment protection and to correct all abnormalities that occur in these equipment.
  • Assembling and disassembling and cleaning internal components of the lubricating oil and heavy oil separators, be able to identify abnormalities that occur in these referred separators, presenting probable solutions.
  • Starting the engines, to synchronize them and present immediate solutions of protection of the equipment in cases of possible flaws.
  • Identifying and locating all existing sensors and transmitters of pressure and temperature of the engines and their auxiliary equipment, knowing how to test them and to substitute them if necessary.
  • Maintenance of machine tools, fixtures, cutting tools and hand tools.
  • Sub assembly work.
  • Reporting of the work completed.
  • Cleaning and keeping the working area in good order
  • Making proposals for spare parts order stock, stock keeping and inventory making, arranging of arriving goods

  • Experience with diesel engines, fuel systems, cooling water systems, hand and power tools, hydraulic tools, auxiliary systems
  • Good mechanical skills
  • Minimum high school education, college or technical degree is preferred
