Key Accountabilities:          

Sales Engineer Propulsion, Business Unit Propulsion

 

We are looking for a dedicated and energetic Sales Engineer to join the Sales Engineering team in Business Unit Propulsion. The ideal candidate is a technically and commercially minded professional who enjoys working in an international environment and has a strong maritime background and interest. 

 

As a Sales Engineer, you will be involved in multiple sales projects, configuring solutions covering Thrusters, Propellers, Gearboxes, Waterjets, and Propulsion Control Systems. In close cooperation with the Sales Manager, you will cover the full scope from the early sales phase through to proposal preparation and handover to the project execution team.

 

To ensure the best value proposition and optimal propulsion configuration, you will coordinate technical bids with our global front-line sales organization, different product groups within Business Unit Propulsion, and other business units such as Power Supply for multi-portfolio offerings. Your combined technical and commercial capabilities will play a key role in developing propulsion opportunities for our customers.

 

This position is preferably located in Navi Mumbai, India. Due to the international nature of the role, you will work closely with customers, Sales Managers, and Sales Engineers worldwide. A willingness to travel occasionally is required.

 

 

What are your main tasks and responsibilities?

 

  • Define and tailor the technical scope and content of solutions based on discussions with customers and/or front-line sales
  • Participate in technical discussions with shipyards, ship owners, and design companies
  • Prepare technical bids, including both technical and commercial documentation, in line with customer requirements
  • Provide technical expertise during the sales phase and support the Sales Teams
  • Develop technical solutions, including cost calculations and sales pricing for components, sub-assemblies, installation, commissioning, and training
  • Coordinate the handover from Sales and Sales Engineering to the Project and Engineering execution teams

 

 

What do we expect from you?

 

  • Passion for developing technical and commercial solutions that add value for customers
  • Bachelor's degree in Naval Architecture, Shipbuilding, Mechanical Engineering in marine design company, or equivalent, with a solid understanding of the maritime industry
  • Strong analytical thinking skills and excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written
  • Ability to clearly and convincingly explain technical solutions
  • Capability to handle multiple sales projects simultaneously
  • Self-driven, proactive mindset with entrepreneurial spirit
  • Ability to prioritize and adapt quickly based on customer requirements
  • Good cost awareness and numerical understanding
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as a (Sales) Engineer in the marine industry
