Service Engineer

We are now looking for Service Engineer to join our GFS Pool in India. The primary location for this position is Mumbai - India

 

Your role and responsibilities:

As a Service Engineer, your daily duties include but are not limited to:

  • Performing mechanical maintenance on Wärtsilä 4 stroke products or similar medium bore diesel engines.
  • Engine component overhauls in workshop and at site, including basic in-situ machining.
  • Performing repair of engine components as cyl. head, cyl. liner, pistons, connecting rods, driven pumps, fuel equipment.
  • Preparing travel expenses on time and in accordance with Wärtsilä quality.
  • Continuously report working hour time and idling time in mobile device.
  • Identifying failures, making adjustments, assisting on trial runs, and testing of mechanical installations according to instructions.
  • Ensure all work meet Wartsila's QEHS guidelines, site procedures and regulation of local authorities.
  • Attend assigned training and continuous competences improvement.
  • Providing internal and external work reports of executed work in accordance with Wärtsilä standards.
  • Maintain and keep Field Service tools and equipment in good condition.

Requirements for the position

Education:

  • Diploma or Bachelor degree in Mechanical/Marine/Electrical with minimum 5 years of experience

Experience:

  • Mechanical technical experience on Wartsila products mainly DF Engines
  • Mechanical officer on Ships with Wartsila engines or similar application -Strong knowledge of auxiliaries equipment
  • On-site team leading and managing of the assigned team and related activities during the work execution (when applicable).
  • Leadership and Team player skills 

Desired Skills:

  • Information management skills, including MS Office Tools.
  • Knowledge in 4-stroke marine engines as well as related systems and components
  • Relevant hands-on experience in mechanical and electrical disciplines
  • Strong knowledge of auxiliary equipment.
  • Electrical troubleshooting skills are considered an advantage.
  • Good command of English both written and verbal.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Desire to work in a multicultural environment.
  • Ability to perform under pressure.
  • Motivation to learn and grow professionally.
  • Willingness to travel at least 7-8 months per year.
  • Experience of writing the technical reports.
