Role Overview
Within Wartsila’s Information Management (IM) organization, the Infrastructure Operations team directly manages applications and systems hosted across our datacentre infrastructure and cloud service providers. The team focuses on maintaining platforms running core business applications of our marine and energy solutions and digital customer-facing platforms.
The role of Solutions Expert in this team is to ensure appropriate functioning of infrastructure operations and service quality across Windows and VMware platforms supporting Wartsila’s global operations.
The candidate is expected to challenge vendors, interact with internal stakeholders across Marine and Energy business units, understand IT processes (including ITIL and Security frameworks) and possess strong knowledge of Windows, VMware along with understanding of Database, Backup and cybersecurity technologies and principles.
What you will be doing in this role:
- Guarantee operational maintenance of outsourced services and ensure vendor compliance with Wartsila security policies
- Communicate change status, incidents, and critical issues to IM leadership and business stakeholders
- Drive continuous service improvement and execute performance action plans
- Support Project Managers through development scoping, production transitions and Go Live deployments
- Manage Windows OS lifecycle: validate upgrades, installations and patch management
- Administer users, file systems and system security
- Execute and see after the execution of service requests and advisory of application owners
- Validate and control major changes in coordination with business units
- Monitor performance metrics and lead improvement initiatives
- Oversee outsourced service quality and incident resolution
- Execute security updates (patches, antivirus) and participate in quality/security audits
- Manage capacity planning and system obsolescence per Wartsila policies
- Maintain CMDB accuracy and system homogeneity
- Coordinate cybersecurity alerts and guide test plan execution
- Support business and IT stakeholders with ad-hoc information or support requests
To shine in this role, you need to have:
- Bachelor's degree or advanced vocational training in IT
- 8-10 years of relevant years of progressive IT experience with broad technical foundation
- Ability to challenge third-party providers in an international environment
- Strong interpersonal skills in a multicultural corporation
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills across multiple technologies
- Knowledge of ITIL framework
- Strong hands on of Windows + VMware landscape (Expert Level)
- Basic knowledge of Linux, SQL and Backup (Veeam will be an advantage) technologies
- Expertise in end point security (Windows Defender preferred)
- Ability to work remotely and outside normal business hours when required
- Excellent verbal and written English skills.
