Test Automation Engineer

Can you imagine a customer-friendly monitoring platform that can help chief mechanics in taking actions long before an alarm reaches the engine room of sailing LNG carriers and dredging vessels?! How fantastic would it be if this avoids wasting energy and resources? Take part in the next generation of predictive maintenance in the maritime sector. You will help in the testing of great solutions that will ultimately help our customers in saving energy and resources while gaining safety. Join a team of more than 100 international professionals and help our Digital Development team in shaping a platform that focuses on detecting anomalies that indicate potential failures or reveal conditions involving the consumption of excess fuel. 

 

Our Digital Product Development (DPD) organization develops digital products for Wärtsilä business units (BU) in Marine Power, Marine Systems and Energy. DPD uses a common technology stack to generate insight from operational data, to make for example predictive maintenance- or efficiency optimization products such as Wärtsilä Expert Insight. DPD is growing from around 100 to 120 professionals.

 

We are looking for a Test Automation Engineer to work together with other developers on web-based software that is used both internally and externally, giving domain experts and customers insights into their operation and helping them in their day-to-day jobs. You enjoy creating efficient and robust solutions that are scalable over hundreds of installations and participate in the development of our streaming data platform, pipelines, databases and APIs. With your team you will be responsible for the quality of the Expert Insight software that we deliver to our customers.

 

This a permanent opportunity and would preferably be located at our office in Drunen, Netherlands.  

As a Test Automation Engineer your work will focus on these responsibilities:  

  • You define a test strategy for testing our front- and back-end components.
  • Align test efforts with other test automation engineers across all development teams.
  • Ensure tests keep running continuously in our CI environment (Bamboo).
  • Actively collaborate with the Product Owner and review new stories/requirements.
  • Identify the test scenarios, write test cases and execute those.
  • Be part of the cross-disciplinary development team and work together towards a shared goal.
  • You take care of performance and/or load testing.
  • You are able to inspire developers with regards to our testing procedures.

 

To be successful in this role we expect you to have: 

  • You have a Bachelor or Master’s degree in the area of Computer Science or at least 3 years of relevant working experience.
  • Experience with automated testing on all levels and the ability to setup and maintain a test automation framework that runs in a continuous integration environment.
  • Certified in ISTQB or TMAP.
  • Comfortable with mocking and stubbing concepts.
  • You have Python and/or Java (Spring Boot and Maven is a plus) knowledge.
  • Experience with Selenium for testing UI web applications
  • Experience with Behaviour Driven Development (BDD) is a plus
  • Experience with SQL and noSQL data bases is a plus, as well ass experience with Docker Kubernetes and AWS.
