Service Engineer, Turbo Chargers

Are you an international oriented Field Service specialist with experience in the maritime or offshore industry? For our Region Central Europe, we are looking for a Mechanical Service Engineer with experience or affinity with Turbo Chargers to join our team in Schiedam, the Netherlands.


As a Service Engineer Turbo Charger Services, you will be part of our Field Service team which is responsible for high class service to all marine power and propulsion equipment on board of our customers vessels.


Together with your colleagues, you will be responsible for the total 4-stroke engine overhaul services to our marine customers. It is your responsibility to perform service activities on the Turbo Engine Equipment on board. You will do this by providing in-depth technical knowledge regarding Turbo technology and ability to advise turbo solutions to customers, including maintenance repair, troubleshooting and the overhaul of Turbo Equipment families such as Napier, ABB, KBB, etc.


In this position you will be working for our Benelux customers, but your working field is globally. Therefore, you must be willing to travel extensively. You will be working in close cooperation with our Field Service Engineers, Superintendents, Service Coordinators, and local Workshop.

What are your main tasks and responsibilities?

  • You perform Field Service activities according to the agreed scope of work and related activities during the work execution.
  • Interact with the customer during the work execution and you offer advice about available products and solutions where needed.
  • Briefing and debriefing with the customer and your team, and arrange introduction meetings, toolbox meetings, and progress meetings.
  • You create excellent service work reports in English.
  • Ensure that the work is executed according to Wärtsilä Quality, Health, Safety and Environmental guidelines and customer site procedures.


What do we expect from you?

  • You have several years’ experience in maintenance, repair and overhaul services in the maritime business. Preferably you have knowledge of several engine equipment families.
  • Experience within an international working environment or the willingness to work internationally.
  • Familiar with customer requirements as well as QHSE and offshore safety.
  • You are customer minded and strive for the highest client satisfaction. 
  • Experienced with Turbo chargers is seen as a must
  • Preferably you are factory trained in Napier, ABB or KBB Turbo Chargers.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills in Dutch and English.
