Field Service Specialist - E&A

We are now looking for a Field Service Specialist – Electrical & Automation (Power Plants / 4‑Stroke & Propulsion) to join our team working for a better future.
What You Will Be Doing?
In this role, you will independently perform Field Service activities related to Electrical and Automation scopes for Power Plants, 4‑Stroke engines, and Propulsion equipment. You will support commissioning, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair activities directly at customer sites across the Americas.
You will act as a hands‑on technical specialist, capable of executing service activities autonomously, solving complex technical problems onsite, and representing Wärtsilä professionally with customers.
This is a Field Service position with a strong focus on onsite execution, problem solving, safety, and customer satisfaction.
Responsibilities:
- Perform Field Service activities according to the Electrical and Automation work scope on Power Plants, 4‑Stroke engines, and Propulsion equipment.
- Perform commissioning, maintenance, repairs, and advanced troubleshooting on control systems and engine automation solutions.
- Execute service activities independently onsite, acting as the main Wärtsilä technical representative.
- Lead and manage assigned teams and related activities during work execution when required.
- Interact professionally with customers during work execution.
- Perform internal and external progress status reporting of the assigned work.
- Create accurate Service Work Reports.
- Ensure that all work is executed according to Wärtsilä QEHS guidelines and site procedures.
- Follow up and report daily activity status to customers and internal stakeholders.
- Continuously seek technical solutions according to best practices.
- Proactively consult, advise, and promote available Wärtsilä solutions and products to customers.
- Perform all activities needed to reach the objectives of the position and comply with company policies, values, and instructions.

- The role does not require a formal engineering degree; candidates with strong technical or technician‑level backgrounds are encouraged to apply.
- Solid technical experience in Electrical and Automation systems with strong problem‑solving skills.
- Proven experience in installation, operation, maintenance, and repair activities.
- Ability to work independently in Field Service environments.
- Ability to interact professionally and deliver solutions to customers during work execution.
- Fluency in English; additional language skills are beneficial.
Knowledge in:
- Product knowledge of 4‑Stroke medium‑speed engines and Power Plant solutions.
- Theoretical and practical knowledge of engine automation and controls portfolio (IAS, ESM, main switchboards, PLCs, governors, etc.).
- Theoretical and practical knowledge of maintenance procedures.
- Theoretical and practical knowledge of tools handling and mechanical components dimensional inspection.
- Theoretical and practical knowledge of multifunction process calibrators, sensor testing tools, and related equipment.
- Theoretical and practical knowledge of Fieldbus Networks and Industrial Ethernet (TCP/IP, Modbus, Profibus).
- General instrumentation knowledge.
- Knowledge of Propulsion Electrical and Automation systems is a plus.
- Knowledge of Wärtsilä engines is a plus.
