We are now looking for an In-Situ Machining Technician to join our team working for a better future.
The position is permanent, and the preferred location is Niterói, Brazil.
What You Will Be Doing?
As an In-Situ Machining Technician, you will perform precision machining activities both in the workshop and at customer sites, supporting marine and energy customers across the region. You will work closely with experienced Field Service professionals, applying machining techniques and specialized tooling to deliver high-quality repairs and maintenance services.
This position is ideal for a technically minded professional with a mechanical background who is motivated to develop specialized machining expertise. The role requires a willingness to travel extensively, work in dynamic environments, and continuously learn new technologies and service methods.
Responsibilities:
- Perform in-situ machining work on Wartsila and third-party equipment.
- Execute machining activities in workshop and field service environments.
- Perform metal stitching repairs on customer components.
- Support engine and crankshaft inspections.
- Operate and maintain machining tools and equipment safely and efficiently.
- Utilize precision measuring equipment to ensure quality and dimensional accuracy.
- Prepare service reports, travel expense reports, and work documentation according to Wartsila standards.
- Conduct site audits and inspections when required.
- Collect and organize time and expense information for reporting purposes.
- Collaborate with colleagues and participate in working groups to promote teamwork and continuous improvement.
- Promote Wartsila products and services during customer interactions.
- Ensure compliance with all safety, quality, and operational procedures.
- Support the development and improvement of machining methods, equipment, and work practices.
Required Qualifications:
Education
- Technical diploma or vocational education in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanics, Machining, Industrial Maintenance, or a related field.
Experience:
- Experience working with machining processes, mechanical maintenance, or industrial equipment.
- Experience operating mechanical measuring instruments and precision tools.
Skills:
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to precision work.
- Basic understanding of machining principles and mechanical systems.
- Ability to follow technical procedures and instructions.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Willingness to learn specialized in-situ machining techniques.
- Ability to work effectively in multicultural environments.
- Ability to work under pressure and adapt to changing priorities.
Other Requirements:
- Availability to work overtime and travel when required.
- Commitment to safety, quality, and customer satisfaction.
- Valid passport and ability to travel domestically and internationally.
- Valid driver's license.

Travel Requirements:
In this role, extensive domestic and international travel is required. While some work will be performed at the workshop in Niterói, expect to travel approximately 80% of the time, with assignments that may last between 20 consecutive days depending on business needs.
