Wärtsilä is seeking a Lab Technician Trainee to join our team at the Nouakchott site in Mauritania. In this role, you will support laboratory operations and contribute to maintaining high standards of quality and safety. Main responsibilities:
1.Training and Learning:
· Assist senior lab technicians and engineers in daily laboratory operations.
· Learn and understand the processes of sample collection, testing, and analysis.
2. Sample Collection and Preparation:
· Support in collecting samples of water, fuel, lubricants, and other materials under supervision.
· Prepare samples for testing by following standard procedures.
3. Laboratory Testing:
· Observe and assist in performing basic chemical and physical tests on materials.
· Learn to operate laboratory equipment such as pH meters, spectrometers, and other tools.
4. Data Recording and Reporting:
· Record test results accurately and assist in preparing reports.
· Learn to analyze data and identify any deviations from quality standards.
5. Equipment Maintenance:
· Assist in cleaning, calibrating, and maintaining laboratory equipment.
· Learn proper handling and storage of chemicals and tools.
6. Safety and Compliance:
· Follow safety protocols and guidelines for handling hazardous materials.
· Learn about environmental and regulatory compliance requirements in a power plant setting.
7. Support Tasks:
· Provide general support to the laboratory team as needed.
· Participate in team meetings and contribute to discussions on process improvements.
Requirements:
.Education: Bachelor Degree in Chemistry/Chemical Engineering from a reputed university in Mauritania with good academic record
· Proficient with MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint applications.
· Fluency in English.
· Good interpersonal & communication skills.
· High integrity and ownership.
· Target-oriented and self-motivated.
· Local resident of Nouakchott and surrounding areas (Must have)
