EHS Plant Technicican

EHS Plant Technician - O&M Power Plant

We are looking for an EHS Plant Technician to support safe, reliable, and compliant operations at our power plant in Pecos, Texas, USA.

 

Location: Pecos, TX

Work Model: Full-time on-site presence.



What You Will Be Doing
In this hands-on, field-focused role, you will support daily EHS execution, regulatory compliance, contractor safety, risk reduction, incident follow-up, and continuous improvement across plant operations, maintenance, outages, and high-risk work activities.



Responsibilities:

  • Support site EHS programs, procedures, inspections, audits, safety walks, and field observations to identify hazards and verify controls.
  • Monitor maintenance, repair, outage, project, contractor, and high-risk work activities, including LOTO, confined space, hot work, lifting, work at height, and electrical work.
  • Support hazard assessments, risk reviews, job safety analyses, permits to work, pre-task planning, and stop-work authority when immediate risk exists.
  • Promote reporting of near misses, incidents, hazard observations, and safety walks; support investigations, root cause analysis, corrective actions, and follow-up.
  • Track EHS metrics, inspection findings, trends, corrective actions, recurring risk themes, and compliance documentation.
  • Support environmental compliance, including waste handling, labeling, storage, spill prevention, stormwater controls, housekeeping, and emergency preparedness.
  • Assist with toolbox talks, safety briefings, training, contractor onboarding, orientations, emergency drills, and response coordination.

Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED required; associate degree or technical certification in Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, Industrial Safety, or related field preferred.
  • 3-5 years of EHS, safety experience in the maintenance, operations, construction, power generation, oil and gas, manufacturing or heavy industry, or related experience preferred.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA 29 CFR 1910/1926, general industry safety practices, and applicable EPA or state environmental requirements.
  • Experience with inspections, audits, incident investigations, corrective actions, EHS documentation, high-risk work activities, and safety reporting systems.
  • Ability to identify hazards, assess risk, and support practical solutions in a fast-paced operating plant environment.
  • Strong English communication skills with employees, contractors, supervisors, operations, maintenance, and site leadership; proficiency with Microsoft Office and Excel.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to meet site access, background, and safety requirements as applicable.

 

Preferred / Nice to Have:

  • OSHA 30-Hour General Industry certification, First Aid / CPR / AED certification, or ability to obtain.
  • Experience with LOTO, confined space, fall protection, hazard communication, spill response, NFPA 70E, or electrical safety programs.
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, HAZWOPER, RCRA, DOT, or other environmental compliance requirements.
