Purchase Manager

We are now looking for a Purchase Manager, to join our Operations team in Shaft Line Solutions Spain. This is a permanent opportunity, and its location is Porriño (Pontevedra), Spain.

 

 What will you be doing

In this position, your work will include all purchase management, from suppliers’ development and performance follow up, to purchasing operations, both for direct materials and indirect products and services related our portfolio and customer delivery projects. The team for managing these operations is currently five people, that, so the position requires leadership and teamwork skills.  

For us to be the best match, we expect you to have understanding and experience from working with metal materials and purchasing negotiation skills. As an ideal candidate, we also require SAP user experience, strong teamwork, and fluent English language.

 

As Purchase Manager, your work will focus on these responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the purchasing activities in SLS Spain
  • Ensure that the resources, processes, way of working and tools are developed and maintained according to strategies.
  • Proactively work to enable cross-site and cross-organisational cooperation specially with other SLS sites (China, UK, Japan).
  • Develop and maintain good stakeholder and/or supplier relationships.
  • Secure optimal supplier network and/or operations in defined area of responsibility.
  • Build a solid supply chain.
  • Lead digital purchasing and supply relations management (SRM).
  • Ensure the resources and process to control and optimise purchases.
  • Inbound logistics, to ensure the efficiency of the supply, and full control of the deliveries.
  • Periodically report key process performance indicators.
  • Implement and coordinate indirect purchase tools that ensure its effectiveness and control.
  • Ensure all procedures/work processes comply with all Wärtsilä requirements.

 

To be successful in this role, we expect you to have:

  • Strong safety mindset
  • SAP knowledge/user, specially manufacturing and purchasing
  • Language: English level must be fluent, written and spoken
  • High experience in similar position
  • Good drawing and technical specifications understanding
  • Advanced communication skills

In this role, some travel could be required to meet with our suppliers, partners or other Wartsila sites around the world. Thus, we hope you to be ready to travel, when necessary, even though most of the meetings are held virtually.
