Mechanical Supervisor

About the Role :

As a Mechanical Supervisor, you will play a pivotal role in leading the maintenance team to ensure the smooth and safe operation of our power plants. This position requires a proactive leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment and values teamwork. You will be responsible for overseeing mechanical maintenance activities, ensuring compliance with operational standards, and driving continuous improvement initiatives. Location: Papua New Guinea 

Employment Duration: Full time 

 

Key Responsibilities :

  • Lead and supervise the mechanical maintenance team for power plant operations. 

  • Plan, schedule, and execute preventive and corrective maintenance activities. 

  • Ensure adherence to safety protocols and operational standards. 

  • Troubleshoot complex mechanical issues and provide technical guidance. 

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize plant performance. 

  • Maintain accurate documentation of maintenance activities and equipment status. 

  • Comply with all safety regulations (including isolation, Lockout & Tagout) and perform emergency procedures in order to protect personnel and equipment in case of damage or failure of safety devices. 

  • Analysis of MTTR and MTBF. 

 

 

Qualifications & Experience :

  • Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering (BE/BS/B.Tech) 

  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience 

  • Excellent technical skills with medium/large bore diesel engines, HFO and lube oil separators 

  • Prior working experience with Wärtsilä products is highly desirable 

Engine Knowledge 

  • Ability to read and interpret engine and auxiliary system P&I drawings 

  • Strong knowledge of Wärtsilä diesel engines and their auxiliaries 

  • Experience in pre-commissioning and commissioning of large diesel engines and auxiliaries following major maintenance 

Technical Analysis 

  • In-depth knowledge of engines, HFO/LO separators, screw and reciprocating compressors 

  • Ability to analyze and resolve product-related issues with engines and auxiliary machinery 

  • Proficiency in conducting relevant technical measurement. 

Other Skills 

  • Strong communication and listening skills; ability to work effectively with people of diverse nationalities 

  • Ability to follow directions and perform under pressure 

  • Excellent customer relations skills 

  • Motivation to learn continuously and grow professionally
