We are looking for a Manager, Warehousing & Distribution, Central & South America to join our team in Quito, Ecuador. 

 

 
 

What you will be doing?

 

In this role, you will lead endtoend warehousing and distribution operations across Central & South America, with responsibility for our facilities in Quito, Ecuador and Niteroi, Brazil.

 

You will ensure operational excellence, strengthen people leadership, drive continuous improvement, and support a network of internal and external stakeholders across Wärtsilä’s Global Logistics Services (WGLS) environment.

 

This role is critical in elevating performance in a complex environment that includes SAP-based operations, import/export requirements, inventory management, and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.

 

 Responsibilities 

  • Lead and manage warehousing and distribution operations in Ecuador and Brazil ensuring efficient, accurate, and customer‑oriented service delivery.
  • Ensure timely fulfilment of customer agreement deliveries, freight schedules, and required reporting.
  • Drive continuous improvement in shipping processes, inventory accuracy, warehouse space utilization, and packing standards.
  • Ensure operational methods, procedures, and ways of working are in place and consistently followed.
  • Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders to support business needs.
  • Lead, coach, and develop the team with a hands‑on, floor‑focused leadership style that strengthens performance, engagement, and capability.
  • Ensure safe working conditions and promote continuous improvement in EHS practices.
  • Achieve KPIs according to WGLS guidelines and proactively resolve operational issues.
  • Ensure timely execution of administrative tasks, including cost control, freight cost validation, invoices, and vendor‑related approvals.
  • Support import/export compliance and ensure accuracy of SAP.  

 

To be successful in this role, we expect you to have: 

 

Education 

  • MSc in Logistics, Engineering, Supply Chain, or equivalent. 

 

Experience 

  • Demonstrated experience in warehousing, logistics operations, and inventory management in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
  • Proven leadership experience, including developing teams and improving performance.
  • Experience working in global, multicultural organizations and with multiple stakeholder groups.
  • Hands‑on operational background with the ability to work on the floor as needed. 

 

Skills & Other Requirements 

  • Background in managing warehouses
  • Understanding of import/export processes, trade regulations, and operational compliance.
  • Strong problem‑solving skills with the ability to drive change and improve processes.
  • Service‑oriented mindset and structured approach to prioritization.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills across functions.
  • Ability to occasionally travel (approx. 5%).
  • Verbal and written language skills in English, Spanish and Portuguese.
  • Experience with SAP/Fiori and Transportation
