Subcontracting Manager

We are looking for a Subcontracting Manager this position will report to the GM, Subcontracting Management and the preferably location is Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

 

Accountabilities:
Responsible for the subcontracting cycle from sales to project closure, including planning, risk analysis, management of the tender process, qualification of subcontractors, contractual negotiations, and selection for contract award.
The Subcontracting Manager manages and provides expertise and support for projects from sales through to EPC project closure, ensuring compliance with processes, management governance, and internal policies.

 

Main Responsibilities:
•    Lead the Subcontracting Planning and participate in the subcontracting risk management from the early sales phase through completion for the EPC projects.
 
•    Lead and steer project subcontracting activities.

•    To provide Strong cooperation and leadership in a new market, in regards to construction local laws, construction requirements for contractors, unions, etc. in a cross organizational cooperation with sales, Project Management teams, legal, etc.
•    Lead the sourcing of contractors for selected sales and the execution projects in Energy business.
•    To establish NDA’s agreement with subcontractors and to establish a Subcontractors Networking as per assigned responsibility project-country.
•    Coordinate the tender and actively participate in contract negotiation and contract awarding following internal processes, and management governance.
•    Project risk management including subcontracting risk monitoring and subcontractor performance evaluations for EPC projects. 
•    To Perform the assessments, audits, and compliance checking in line with the Wärtsilä requirements and subcontracting tools including performance evaluations.
•    Participate in customer / stakeholder negotiations when needed and maintain good customer / stakeholder relationships 
•    Maintenance and Relationship of the portfolio of assigned subcontractors in line with the internal requirements. 

 
Requirements:

•    M.Sc. or B.Sc. in Civil, Mechanical or Electrical engineering.
•    Experience in the subcontracting processes and practices. 
•    Robust experience in Construction.

•    Experience in utilizing successfully Risk Management methods .
•    Experience and knowledge in Contract negotiations.
•    Good understanding at Sales Process.
•    Cost Management awareness & effectiveness.

•    High ethical standards. 
•    Drive new ways of working and has a change leadership experience. 
•    Excellent communication and cooperation skills.

•    Business minded and goal-oriented person, drives for results with excellent planning, systematic and organized way of working. 
•    Readiness to travel internationally.
•    Cultural awareness and sensitivity, ability to build relations and work in a multi-cultural teams’ environment.

•    Fluent in written and spoken in English and Portuguese, Spanish is considered a plus.
