We are looking for an experienced engineering professional to join our team as a technical authority in transmission and gearbox design. In this role, you will play a key part in strengthening core competencies and delivering high-quality engineering solutions that support business growth and strategic projects.

The preferred location for this position is Rubbestadneset in Norway

 

Your role and responsibilities

 

As a Senior / Principal Engineer, your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading and executing complex transmission and gearbox development projects
  • Collaborating with internal teams, suppliers, and external partners (e.g. universities, engineering companies)
  • Developing, reviewing, and approving advanced technical solutions with a focus on performance and cost efficiency
  • Acting as internal technical authority for gear mesh and system-level design topics
  • Supporting customer solutions at drivetrain and system level, including strategic applications such as naval
  • Contributing to R&D planning, including scope definition, prioritization, and delivery planning
  • Monitoring project progress and providing clear recommendations and conclusions
  • Developing and maintaining engineering standards, guidelines, and knowledge repositories
  • Ensuring compliance with relevant rules, regulations, and industry standards
  • Representing the company in external technical forums and professional networks
  • Coaching and mentoring engineers, supporting problem-solving and decision-making across teams

 

To be successful in this role, we expect you to have:

 

  • Strong expertise in gearbox and transmission design, particularly gear mesh
  • Solid understanding of system-level engineering
  • Experience working with suppliers and external partners
  • Ability to act as a technical authority and influence technical decisions
  • Proven experience mentoring or guiding engineers
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Good communication skills and ability to work in a global environment
