Configuration Management Specialist

We are seeking a Configuration Management Specialist to join our hardware engineering team. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter who can work both independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team. This role is perfect for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, constantly changing environment and is excited about contributing to substantial growth in the industry and company.

Location: This position is based in Wärtsilä’s Toronto office and requires onsite presence.

Responsibilities:

• Develop, manage, and maintain the Engineering Change Request (ECR), Engineering Change Order (ECO), and Engineering Change Notification (ECN) processes.
• Manage and maintain the Engineering Deviation request process.
• Create and manage change activities in collaboration with designers/engineers and Configuration Managers (CMs).
• Create and manage reports on the progress of ECR/ECNs and Deviations.
• Sustain change management activities throughout their lifecycle.
• Work directly with engineers and project teams as a documentation liaison, organizing the change management function.
• Research and implement scalable business solutions to continuously improve change management processes.
• Collaborate with the larger team to optimize requirements and needs.
• Ensure processes are followed utilizing the quality management system.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives.
• Collaborate in a team environment and/or take charge of opportunities to develop optimal solutions.

Minimum Experience and Educational Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in an engineering/technology program, or equivalent.
• 5+ years of experience in configuration management, ECR/ECO/ECN management.
• Working knowledge and experience with PLM software such as Fusion360 and Windchill.
• Working knowledge of project and product structure, Bill of Materials (BOM), and change management.
• Ability to maintain positive working relationships with peers and Configuration Managers.
