We are looking for a Sales Manager to join our Marine sales team.

The position is permanent, and the preferred location is Montreal (QC), Toronto (ON) or Halifax (NS).

What you will be doing

As Sales Manager, you will play a key role in driving profitable growth, strengthening customer relationships, and advancing our Marine sales strategy across the US and Canada. You will report directly to the Lifecycle Sales General Manager for the US and Canada.

As Sales Manager, your work will focus on these responsibilities:

  • Own and develop assigned customer accounts, building strong long-term relationships that support customer satisfaction, commercial success, and revenue growth.
  • Execute customer strategies, roadmaps, actions, and goals in line with business objectives and market opportunities.
  • Conduct regular customer engagement and visits based on structured planning to strengthen relationships, understand customer needs, and identify new opportunities.
  • Lead opportunity generation across all Marine business lines, from early lead development through to proposal, deal closure, and delivery of sales results.
  • Maintain an accurate sales pipeline, including reliable forecasting and clear order intake visibility for assigned accounts.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date CRM records, including customer visits, opportunities, account plans, and related sales activities.
  • Develop customer offerings and proposals supported by a clear and quantified value proposition that addresses customer needs and business benefits.
  • Collaborate closely with internal delivery functions, product lines, and relevant colleagues to ensure alignment, feasibility, and seamless execution.
  • Coordinate sales activities for global or cross-country customers and ensure a smooth handover of scope and key risks to execution teams.
  • Monitor receivables and work proactively with accounting and internal stakeholders to support timely resolution of outstanding items.
  • Collect and communicate market intelligence, customer insights, and competitor activity to support commercial strategy and decision-making.
  • Contribute to new build order intake and support Wärtsilä’s full-cycle Marine business strategy across the customer lifecycle.

To succeed in this role, you will bring:

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in the marine industry, with a solid understanding of customer-facing commercial roles.
  • A strong customer focus, with the ability to understand customer needs and translate them into commercial opportunities.
  • A proactive and results-driven commercial mindset, supported by strong communication, negotiation, and relationship management skills.
  • The ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team environment.
  • Strong planning and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain attention to detail.
  • Strong listening and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and respond effectively to customer and business needs.
  • A self-driven, adaptable, and continuous learning approach, with openness to change and new ways of working.
  • Good knowledge of marine products and solutions, with confidence in using Microsoft Office, digital collaboration tools, and CRM systems such as Salesforce.

Success will be measured by order intake, customer satisfaction, and strong internal collaboration.

This role requires travel, and candidates must be eligible to travel to the United States at the time of application. While most meetings are held virtually, the position requires travel within Canada and the United States approximately 30% to 40% of the time. Occasional international travel may also be required based on customer requirements and project scope.

Last application date: 25/06/2026
