Coordinator Workshop

Wärtsilä is a world leader in marine technology and leading the industry's transformation towards a decarbonised and sustainable future. With the world’s widest portfolio and service network, we – Wärtsilians - deliver efficient, safe and sustainable integrated products and solutions to enhance the business of our customers. The opportunities presented through digitalisation and new technologies are offering a new era of shipping. Did you know that shipping is the world’s most efficient mode of transportation and that 88% of the world's trade is carried by sea?

We want to change the course towards an interconnected and cleaner maritime future and are constantly on the lookout for future-oriented talent to join our team and to work towards enabling sustainable societies through innovation in technology and services - together. Are you ready to jump onboard?

Are you ready to coordinate exciting engineering projects and be at the heart of maritime innovation? At Wärtsilä, we don’t just work on ships, we power them and now, our Schiedam Propulsion Workshop is on the lookout for a hands-on, highly organised and proactive Workshop Coordinator to help us keep things running smoothly (and sometimes urgently!).

What will you be doing:

Each day is different in the workshop! One morning, you could be leading a kick-off meeting for a new overhaul project and by afternoon, you're diving into the details of an urgent propulsion repair order. You’ll be the vital link between our internal teams and our customers making sure projects are delivered safely, on time and with top-notch quality.

As a Workshop Coordinator, your work will focus on these main responsibilities:

  • Own the full coordination process, from purchase order to project completion.
  • Plan and monitor workshop orders, ensuring timelines and quality standards are met.
  • Prepare all the necessary work instructions and documentation to keep the workshop moving.
  • Communicate clearly and regularly with internal teams and customers.
  • Manage tool rental for Field Service colleagues or other Wärtsilä workshops.
  • Support the sales team with quotes for non-standard jobs and services.

What you bring to the Team:

  • A solid technical background in mechanical systems or propulsion (marine industry is a plus).
  • MBO / vocational training in mechanical engineering.
  • Experience working in maritime, technical workshops, dry docking, or mechanical service environments.
  • The ability to manage multiple projects at once and adapt quickly when things change.
  • A structured, solution-focused mindset and attention to detail.
  • A positive, service-oriented attitude; our customers are at the centre of everything we do.
  • Fluent in Dutch and good proficiency in English.

What you can expect from us:

  • A collaborative and high-energy team that values your ideas and initiative.
  •  Exposure to international projects in one of the most innovative marine companies worldwide.
  • Opportunities to grow your career in a hands-on, real-world technical environment.
  • Regular overtime and occasional weekend work - fully compensated.
  • The role can be filled at either a junior or middle level (medior) professional level, depending on your experience and preference
  • A workplace in Schiedam that’s easily accessible from Rotterdam, The Hague, Delft and surrounding areas.
