In-situ Service Coordinator

The In-Situ Coordinator / Planner is responsible for the end-to-end coordination, preparation, planning, and execution of in-situ service activities, maintenance projects, repairs, retrofits, and upgrades for maritime propulsion systems, engines, gearboxes, propeller shafts, thrusters, and related systems. The role acts as the liaison between customers, service engineers, project management, suppliers, workshops, and internal support departments.


The In-Situ Coordinator ensures the timely availability of resources, personnel, documentation, tools, parts, and logistics to enable work to be carried out safely, efficiently, within budget, and in accordance with agreed quality standards.

 

As an In-situ Service Coordinator, you are part of our Service Unit Central Europe. Your location is our office in Schiedam, the Netherlands.

 

 

What you will do:

 

  • You manage the full scope of the service projects assigned to you. This means coordinating multiple international service projects from initial request through execution, settlement and invoicing.
  • Plan and allocate field service engineers, specialists and subcontractors according to project requirements, competencies, certifications and availability.
  • Supervise and support field service specialists, including teams of 20+ people, and provide clear instructions throughout project execution.
  • Act as the primary contact for customers, ship owners, shipyards, operators, agents and internal stakeholders, ensuring clear communication on progress, changes, risks and priorities.
  • Arrange the timely availability and delivery of parts, tools, measuring equipment and other materials, including urgent and critical deliveries worldwide.
  • You use your solid project management skills to look after the customer satisfaction, monitor the project planning and ensure this will be done within budget.
  • You create purchase orders in the system and ensure everything is delivered on time at the right locations.
  • You take care of planning and preparation of your projects and monitor Field Service KPI’s such as margin, work in progress, billable rate, etc.
  • Manage your projects with clear communication and cooperation between field services, customers, workshops and administration.
  • Comply with Safety and ISO processes for all personnel, tools and machines to insure safety, accuracy and quality of all services.

 

 

To be successful in this role, the ideal candidate would have:

 

  • You hold a vocational or bachelor’s degree, preferably in a technical or maritime study (or equivalent technical experience) combined with several years of working experience in a service minded organisation
  • If you have any working experience in a technical or international working environment, this is seen as an advantage.
  • Any experience with technical maintenance and Project Management is needed to be able to understand the needs of our customer.
  • The ability to understand technical scopes and translate customer requirements into practical work plans.
  • You know how to instruct and guide colleagues in the field.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder-management skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Strong organisational, problem-solving and decision-making skills, combined with a proactive, resilient and results-oriented approach.
  • Strong written and spoken English and Dutch; additional languages are an advantage.
  • Good knowledge of MS Office and experience with ERP, CRM or service-management systems.
