Junior Mechanic - Metallurgic Repair

We are looking for a Junior Mechanic for our Metallurgic Repair workshop based in Schiedam, whose main responsibilie will be to efficiently and effectively perform all repair and maintenance tasks on ship propellers and propeller blades.

 

What you will do:

  • Performing all repair and maintenance tasks on ship propellers and propeller blades.
  • Inspecting and measuring ship propellers and propeller blades.
  • Searching for necessary technical information and specifications.
  • Internally ordering necessary materials to perform tasks.
  • Checking for cracks (NDT).
  • Measuring the blade profile of the propellers.
  • Preparing a damage report.
  • Performing (preventive) maintenance tasks in the workshop.

 

In this role you can expect to communicate (also in English) with:

  • Team Leader Workshop MR to set priorities regarding planning and concerning vacations, leave days, and sick reports.
  • Workshop employees to set priorities regarding machine and cleaning tasks (possibly in consultation with Team Leader Workshop) and to ensure successful task completion.
  • Team Leader Workshop MR about performance, training, and career path.

 

To be succesful in this role, we would like you to:

  • Have previous similar experience in a workshop
  • Be willing to perform a field service job on location, including abroad, on average once a month.
  • Have knowledge in working with the following tools: hydraulic, and rotating tools and standard workshop tools, forklift and gantry crane.
  • Good communication skills in Dutch, additional English skills are preferred.
