We set objectives and continuously improve our QEHS performance, actively eliminating defects and hazards, and reducing QEHS associated risks. We communicate and consult with employees and other relevant stakeholders to ensure that our QEHS practices are enforced and constantly improved.

 

We are now looking for a QEHS Engineer to join our skilled Central Europe Workshop team in Central Europe Region QEHS. The role is offered as a permanent position and the location is Schiedam, Netherlands.

 

 

What will you be doing?

 

As a QEHS Engineer, your tasks will revolve around managing and maintaining QEHS procedures in our Workshop and Field Service organisation in Schiedam. You will play a key role in our commitment to ensuring the safety of our employees, by establishing, communicating, and enforcing Wärtsilä’s Quality, Environmental, Health and Safety Policy.

 

As an ideal candidate, you are passionate about safety, health, and quality improvement practices, with strong influential skills and relevant experience in a similar role or from the field.

 

In this role, you will be able to work 20 % remotely, in accordance with our hybrid model.

 

 

Your responsibilities for the role include, but are not limited to: 

 

  • Monitoring and managing quality issues, including reworks and non-conformities.
  • Monitoring effectiveness through conducting internal audits and supporting external audits.
  • Conducting and coordinating field service and workshop safety and quality walks.
  • Distribution of quality and safety flashes to relevant stakeholders.
  • Leading Field Service HSE meetings.
  • Supporting in the investigation of accident reporting.
  • Monitoring and managing near misses.
  • Ensuring safe and correct operations through compliance with all health and safety laws and regulations.
  • Providing systems support and coaching to all staff.
  • Delivery of internal trainings.
  • Participation in local audits.
  • Health monitoring of WS & FS employees.
  • Managing and coordinating the Emergency Response local teams and site plans for Schiedam & Harlingen (satellite workshop).
  • Managing and coordinating subcontractors for workshop facilities with regards to QEHS practices.
  • Promoting a safe work environment for all employees, customers, and visitors.

 

 

The below will enable you to succeed in this role:

 

  • Minimum MVK (Middelbare Veiligheidskundige) degree, preferably HVK/BSc in a relevant educational field.
  • Motivation and genuine interest to work with Wärtsilä’s Quality, Environmental, Health and Safety Policy.
  • Desire to improve and maintain the health and safety of all employees in the workplace.
  • A good eye for detail and ability to identify needs.
  • Proactive, systematic, and organized way of working.
  • Strong communication skills and a service-oriented mindset.
  • Good teamwork and self-management skills.
  • Leadership and influential skills will be considered an advantage.
  • Cost awareness and effectiveness.
  • Ability and willingness to work onsite in the Workshop.
  • Willingness to travel on occasion.
  • Strong Dutch and English language skills, both written and verbal.
