As a Repair Engineer at our Metallurgic Repair Workshop it is your responsibility to repair ship propellers: fixed pitch propellers, controllable pitch propeller blades and waterjet impellers. On each assigned order/project you shall use Wärtsilä instructions, drawings and procedures.

 

The jobs are taking place both at the workshop in Schiedam and on locations around the world, mainly at shipyards. Approximately 20% of the work is performed on locations away from the workshop for the duration of maximum 2 weeks.

 

You will have the chance to work in a technically interesting environment within the maritime industry. As a Repair Engineer you will be part of our small team existing of approximately 6 professionals.

Both starters and more experienced repair engineers are invited to send in their application. 

 

What are your main tasks and responsibilities?

Your work will focus on, but is not limited to, these responsibilities:

  • You will inspect, measure and repair propellers and propeller blades

The repair activities consist of:

    • Straightening of damaged propellers
    • Welding of damaged propellers
    • Grinding and polishing of propellers
    • Balancing of the propellers
  • You create repair and service work reports for the owner/customer and Classification Societies
  • You work according to order/project records and checklists.
  • You ensure that the work is executed according to Wärtsilä Quality, Health, Safety and Environmental guidelines and procedures.
  • You contribute in keeping a clean and tidy workshop environment.

What do we expect from you?

  • You have technical knowledge and interest in metallurgic repair activities.
  • Preferably you have experience with welding and are a holder of a welders certificate.
  • A welders certification for CU3/CU4 material shall be part for your training.
  • The ability to read and understand technical drawings.
  • You are able to work under pressure as well as the flexibility to travel for jobs around the globe (max. 20% of the working time).
  • Preferably you are familiar with the industry safety standards and practices.
  • Dutch and English written and verbal skills.
