Senior Expert/Consultant, Cyber Security

Wärtsilä Cyber Security Operations are looking for a dedicated and meticulous cybersecurity Senior Expert/Consultant to join our growing Wärtsilä Cybersecurity unit.

In the role you will operate independently and as part of a team to ensure our software, hardware, and related components are cyber resilient.

The role and tasks will include developing security systems, analysing current systems for vulnerabilities, and supporting cyber incidents in an efficient and effective manner.

Candidates should have strong IT/OT skills, a deep understanding of cyber methodologies (Penetration Testing, Vulnerability Assessments, Risk Assessments, etc).


     Job Description:

  • focusing on finding cyber risks (in applications, computer networks, cloud servers, mobile devices, etc)
  • developing security systems
  • analysing current systems for vulnerabilities
  • supporting cyber incidents in an efficient and effective manner
  • seeking to build in security during the development stages of software systems, networks and data centres
  • supporting and advising  in closing off the cyber security issues and vulnerabilities

  • Ability to identify cyber vulnerabilities and overall issues
  • Critical thinking skills, problem solving aptitude
  • Forensic approach to challenges
  • Strong IT and OT (Operation Technology) skills and knowledge including hardware, software, networks and cloud environment

  • Ability to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of IT/OT and digital systems
  • Ability to seek out vulnerabilities in IT/OT infrastructures, ecosystems and collaboration areas
  • A forensic approach to challenges


Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Service mind set and understanding of how cyber can be a competitive advantage
  • Thorough work ethic, attention to detail
  • Motivation and desire to self-educate on the ever-changing landscape of cybersecurity
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science (or similar)
  • Experience in professional cybersecurity
  • Cyber security professional qualifications, formal certification
