The Wärtsilä Energy Business – North Region team has a vacancy for a Senior Service Engineer – Reciprocating Engine Controls.

 

What will you be doing

 

As a Senior Service Engineer – Reciprocating Engine Controls, you will focus on these responsibilities:

  • Solve technical and operational problems at our customer's engine power plants.
  • Lead preventative maintenance activities according to maintenance programs.
  • Support New Build and Commissioning teams on projects delivery.
  • Prepare service work reports and other relevant documentation related to site or customer visits.
  • Manage and maintain good relationships with the customer during work execution.
  • Take ownership of technical discussions and be the point of contact between internal and external stakeholders during service execution.
  • Be able to travel to our customer facilities for service attendance within Canada, US and the Caribbean.
  • Be on service jobs about 80% of the year.

 

Desired Education 

  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Controls & Automation or Electrical Engineering or equivalent

 

The applicant should have a minimum of five (5) years’ experience with:

  • PLC programming and troubleshooting: Rockwell, Siemens, Schneider etc.
  • Understanding of PLC function blocks and ladder diagrams
  • Wonderware or other applicable HMI platforms
  • Various standard industrial networks and protocols (Modbus TCP, Profibus, CAN-bus, CIP, EtherNet/IP, DeviceNET, ControlNET, Industrial Ethernet etc.)
  • Woodward control systems for diesel and gas engines
  • Reciprocating Gas Engine Control Systems (Wärtsilä, MAN, MaK, Caterpillar, Bergen etc)
  • Performing remote or onsite troubleshooting

 

Additional Skills:

  • Good leadership and collaboration skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills (English required, Spanish a plus)
  • Strong focus on safety protocols and QEHS standards
  • Be able to work independently
  • Project management skills
  • Coaching skills
