2-stroke senior technical expert

To strengthen our expertise and capacity in the 2-Stroke products and related ancillary systems in MEA, we are now looking for a skilled Technical expert (2-Stroke Engines) to join our team in WCN.
The Technical Services is one of the most important technical knowledge centres within the organization in Wärtsilä, supporting internal and external stakeholders during the life cycle of products and solutions delivered or serviced by Wärtsilä.
The Technical expert ensures customer satisfaction by providing high quality and on-time technical support. You will report to Technical manager Services 2-Stroke MEA. This is a permanent opportunity, and its location is WCN.
What will you be doing:
As Technical expert (2-Stroke Engines), your work will focus on these responsibilities with double roles as FS troubleshooter (50%) and technical expert (50%):
As 2-stroke engine Troubleshooter
- Leading FS team as team leader / supervisor for complex, prolonged repair jobs and large projects.
- Perform 2-stroke engine trouble shooting, maintenance, inspection, overhaul and repair and service work reporting based on urgent and important requests.
- Developing way of working and process by utilize data & knowledge for increasing 2-stroke FS sales opportunity
- Provide advanced troubleshooting activity with high technical knowledge and experience, backing up the MEA 2-stroke Field Service organisation in case required.
- Perform FS attendance for important cases such as drifting vessels or unplanned emergency and high skilled required cases for 2-stroke engines.
- Take lead field service activity, spare parts, service drawings, advanced troubleshooting, major repair procedure development, RCA.
As 2-stroke technical expert
- Be responsible for handling of customer's technical inquiries in a comprehensive and supportive manner.
- Perform Audits and be active in capturing new sales opportunities (leads)
- Manage and solve complex technical and operating problems solving activities of the customers.
- Engine performance evaluation with engine control system. WECS, UNIC and WICE software and pneumatic system.
- Make analysis with adequate conclusions and recommendations (reports) for how to solve complex technical problems of the customer. Report on the related work progress to relevant stakeholders
- Communicate and propose improvement needs of the products and solutions for relevant internal stakeholders.
- Participate in product development and product improvement projects.
- Participate in development of new working methods with own responsibility area.
- Provide technical support to internal and external customers.
- Analyses field experience and customer feedback data in order to improve the products and solutions as well as operation and maintenance of the installation.
- Support in technical matters when new products or components are developed and launched.
- Proactively work to enable cross-divisional and cross-organizational cooperation.
- Coach and mentor less experienced technical experts and field service engineers.
- Participate in customer and/or internal meetings as a technical leader, when complex technical matters are handled.
- Share technical knowledge with internal and external stakeholders.
- Ensure know-how and professional competence development within respective technical expert area.
To be successful in this role, we expect you to have:
- B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Engineering or in Marine, Mechanical or other applicable technical degree
- Minimum 3+ years of related experience with all 2-stroke engines, controls and its technologies. Preferred experience with X-DF and WICE or all other maker 2-stroke Gas engines.
- Relevant experiences of other Wartsila products.
- Broad and strong knowledge and understanding of the marine engines and prolusion systems.
- Advanced analytical skills in technical problem solving.
- Fluent in English, both verbally and written
- Strong Customer focus & service mind-set and Communication skills.
- Strong Teamwork skills and drive for performance with positive attitude and ability to inspire others.
- Experience in working in international environment and willingness to travel.
- Motivated to learn and grow professionally.
