Newbuild Sales Manager, China

In this newly established position, you will become part of the New Build Sales & Delivery team in the global SLS Sales & Delivery organisation. The purpose of the New Build Sales & Delivery team will be to ensure business growth in Commercial Marine New Build business by partnering with selected customers to grow the SLS market share and installed base.

 

As a New Build Sales Manager for China, you will mainly focus on develop SLS new build sales including but not limited to new customer development, new route to market development and activities all the way from opportunity identification to offer confirmation, and to continuous feedback from the customers within your respective country. You will actively build trust and develop relationships with customers, owners, mainly shipyards, as well as distributors.

 

In this position you will report to General Manager, New Build Sales and you will be located in China. 

 

Your main responsibilities are

  • Develop new customers for the new build segment
  • Identify and establish new routes to market
  • Conduct market investigations to uncover opportunities
  • Proactively engage with customers and distributors to generate leads and sales opportunities
  • Utilize data to forecast customer behaviour and enable proactive selling
  • Manage the opportunity pipeline and customer visits using CRM tools
  • Collect and follow up on customer feedback
  • Collaborate with other functions and team members to capture wider Marine opportunities
  • Acquire business intelligence and market-critical knowledge for China
  • Ensure contract quality aligns with Wärtsilä policies
  • Increase SLS portfolio market share
  • Manage risks and opportunities for customer accounts
  • Proactively pursue new contract opportunities to improve inquiry hit rates
  • Create and follow up opportunities

 

Main requirements in this role are

  • Proactive sales approach with a track record in customer-facing roles
  • Business or technical degree, or equivalent education/experience
  • Knowledge of SLS products is an advantage
  • At least 5 years of sales or sales support experience
  • Fluent in English and Chinese; additional language skills are a plus
  • Based in China and willing to travel domestically and internationally as required

  • New customer and route to market development
  • Order intake, sales and margin for external newbuild packages
  • Inquiry hit rate compared to NB contracts in the market
  • Hit rate for projects offered
  • Number of shipsets ordered
  • Number of opportunities creation
