Product Support Manager

We are looking for a Product support Manager for the JV support team located at our JV factories in Shanghai. In our team we have a strong focus on safety, customer satisfaction and cross-functional collaboration. Our target is to lead and develop the on-site team supporting JVs, while maintaining a strong collaboration with stakeholders in both JV and Wärtsilä. In this position you will face technical questions related to 4-stroke engine design, testing, performance, and automation and you have a passion to solve these questions with own experience and through collaboration with experts in Wärtsilä. You also have passion for improving tools processes through continuous improvement actions. Your main responsibilities are
- Lead the on-site team supporting Joint ventures in coordination with stakeholders in Wärtsilä and JVs
- Continuously develop on-site team competences based on the needs from stakeholders
- Participate and represent JVs in various Wärtsilä internal meetings. (quality review meeting, Product improvement meeting, JV support meeting etc.)
- Communicate the project specific engine software to JVs and support with software related questions where needed. Keep control of the engine software change management for JVs and make sure that all mandatory data is stored in Wärtsilä systems. Assist with access rights and tools needed for JV personnel related to engine software.
- Be the first contact point for engine performance and tuning issues
- Participate, mentor and advise during test run of new products in JVs
- Propose improvements for JV test run facilities based on previous experience and benchmarking with other facilities such as STH
- Monitor the JV commissioning progress and advice and support where needed
- Coordinate and provide technical support for engine tests initiated by RDE
- Coordinate and assist with implementation of new software tools and platforms in JVs
- Represent Wärtsilä in technical discussions in joint ventures and external meetings
- Chairman of the Bi-weekly JV support meeting ensuring an efficient and reliable coordination with technical management teams
You will shine in this role when you have:
- Leadership and experience in team building and leading
- Excellent knowledge of Wärtsilä process and tools used in engineering and knowledge how projects are driven from sales to commissioning
- Strong knowledge of Wärtsilä 4-stroke products. Previous experience with engine automation and performance highly appreciated.
- Advanced planning skills and high level of organization.
- Teamwork skills and open mind, ability to confidently work in multicultural and globally distributed teams. Working experience in China is especially appreciated.
- Good communication and relationship skills
- Decision making and structured problem solving approach
- Advanced command of English language, both written and spoken
- Cross functional view, cost awareness and effectiveness
- Excellent skills in change management and fully committed in delivering results
- Mature, strong sense of responsibility, and self-discipline
Education:
- Bachelor or Masters Degree or equivalent / preferably in Mechanical or automation engineering
Experience:
- Minimum 7 years experience in engineering / at least 4 in Wärtsilä, preferably in Engineering.
