Senior Noise & Vibration Engineer

We are now looking for a Noise & Vibration Engineer to join our skilled Noise & Vibration Engineering team within Customer Solution Engineering in Power Supply. The team provides support and expertise across all marine projects on Noise and Vibration topics to fulfil Customer requirements during both sales and project execution phase.

The position is permanent, and the location is Shanghai, China; we welcome applications from candidates with varying levels of experience.

 

What you will be doing:

As a Noise & Vibration Engineer you will be part of a global, innovative and customer-driven organization. This is a delivery-oriented role focused on executing and delivering engineering analysis and solutions ensuring the highest standards of performance and customer satisfaction.

On a typical working day, you may perform Noise and Vibration measurements during the Factory Acceptance Test of one of the quietest generating sets for the most luxurious passenger or research vessels in the maritime industry. On another day, you may present to one of our esteemed customers the vibration analysis results and the power transmission component selected for the propulsion system of a cutting-edge hybrid ferry.

 

Your responsibilities for the role include, but are not limited to:

  • Participating in delivery projects as Noise and Vibration Engineer within the project team
  • Performing Noise and Vibration measurements during engine factory acceptance test and in field
  • Performing torsional vibration calculations in both frequency and time domains
  • Performing resilient mounting calculations
  • Preparing technical specifications in accordance with internal standards
  • Delivering detailed calculation and measurement reports to customers and classification societies
  • Providing technical expertise and support to internal and external stakeholders on Noise and Vibration topics
  • Contributing to the development of new measurement and analysis methodologies
  • Contributing to the development of new technical solutions in collaboration with internal stakeholders and suppliers
  • Maintaining positive and cooperative communication and collaboration with the team, partners and key stakeholders

 

To be successful in this role, we expect you to hold:

  • M.Sc. or B.Sc. in Mechanical engineering or other equivalent engineering fields
  • Strong mathematical and physics background
  • Fundamental knowledge of structural dynamics, vibration and modal analysis
  • Ability to work effectively in an international environment
  • Fluency in English, both written and spoken; Chinese language skills are beneficial;
  • Solid MS Office skills
  • Analytical mindset and systematic, proactive and organized way of working
  • Willingness to learn, adapt to and develop new technologies
  • Practical approach for problem-solving
  • Strong technical reporting skills
  • Attitude to work both independently and in team
  • Willingness to travel when required

 

The following will be considered an advantage:

  • Experience of and interest in engine dynamics
  • Vibration measurement practice: Linear, Air Borne Noise, Torsional, Modal;
  • Experience with Torsional Vibration Analysis
  • Knowledge of signal processing
  • Knowledge of most relevant classification society rules and regulations of ships
  • Software programming skills
