Strategic Purchaser

 

What will be your main tasks and responsibilities?

  • Execute category strategies and localization action plans; Ensures that suppliers are compliant in Wartsila processes   
  • Manages and develops suppliers base, performance, relationships and negotiations
  • Secure the objectives and targets on Quality, Delivery Reliability and Cost
  • Conducts strategic sourcing processes including:
    • Suppliers’ selection, validation & suppliers’ base optimization
    • contracts coverage
    • Long-term capacity management       
  • Create and update agreements with suppliers, maintain SAP Outline Agreements and material/supplier master data in relevant parts
  • Lead/support/participate in negotiations, secure capacity and forecasting
  • Contribute and establish good cooperation and communication internally and externally
  • Actively leads and supports problem solving in escalated issues from divisions/support function

 

What do we expect from you?

  • Hands-on sourcing experience on welding/casting/mechanical components.
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills.
  • Fluent spoken & written English and Chinese
  • Experience of cost analysis / risk management / contract law.
  • Robust project management skill
  • Able to work under pressure
  • Willingness to travel
  • Bachelor’s degree or above, majored in mechanical engineering; or qualified by equivalent experience
  • several years’ working experience on strategic sourcing in MNC
  • Experience on small batch or project sourcing is an advantage
  • Experience in SAP and reporting tools is seen as an advantage
  • AI skill is preferred

  • Fluent in written and spoken English language
     

In this role, some travel is required to meet with our suppliers around the world. Thus, we hope you to be ready to travel approximately 40%.
