Supplier Development & Quality Engineer

Your main responsibilities are

  • Negotiate, create and maintain supply contracts with suppliers and/or improve supply performance and supplier relationships in defined area of responsibility
  • Securing that our supply base understands our requirements and have a quality process in place that prevents the creation of deviations from those requirements.
  • Gather and analyze supplier performance data.
  • Secure main KPIs of safety, quality, delivery reliability and costs are met with suppliers.
  • Proactive planning and implementation of supplier development actions.
  • Validation of suppliers and their products under planned supply scope with close collaboration with Product Owners. WPAP / PQAP
  • Actively participate in the action plan creation including decision making on supplier rationalization.
  • Execute supplier audits and related follow-up according to supplier audit plan.
  • Lead Operational Excellence activities under assigned supplier responsibility area.
  • Assess & follow up the suppliers' Quality Management Systems and Supplier Management System (VMS) rating.
  • Point of contact for suppliers in case of an escalated quality, delivery or technical challenges.
  • Point of contact for supply chain audits by key customers when required
  • Attend system factory tests particularly in pilot / new vendor development phase
  • Participate in the development of Wärtsilä tools and procedures for Supplier Development.
  • Participation to other assigned supplier development projects.
  • Fulfil other aligned stakeholders requirements.

You will shine in this role when you have:

  • Experience in power system and energy storage technologies preferably familiar with marine application but this is not essential.
  • Experience with high mix, low volumes and project base work is preferred.
  • Good Knowledge about electrical equipment such as power conversion (drives, transformers), electrical propulsion and generation equipment, and battery technologies.
  • Understand a range of manufacturing processes for example:
  • Battery: basic understanding of battery cell production with a higher emphasis on module and battery system integration production
  • Electrical motor / generator: cable winding, heat run testing.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience working preferably in quality management or SCM including engineering roles with frequent contact at vendor sites;
  • Good English language skills and cultural knowledge
  • Availability to travel

 

Desired Skills:

  • Supplier Development & Quality Engineer (SDQE) will oversee the execution and further development of all the suppliers in China/Asia for Ship Electrification Solutions.
