Tax Controller

Main responsibilities:

  • Support Company and Business to develop and implement tax strategies.
  • Tax compliance: conduct tax health check to identify the potential tax exposures, ensure that the finance and business model/treatment are in compliance with the relevant tax laws and regulations. Provide related info session/training to stakeholders.
  • Lead transfer pricing documentation preparation and work closely with HQ and different business lines to ensure no TP risk.
  • Tax planning and saving: propose tax planning/saving project to optimize new project and business operation, coordinate with other departments to implement these planning/saving project.
  • Tax analysis and advice: provide tax analysis/advices to support business, streamline business operations.
  • Proactively support Wartsila HQ tax department and global business lines.
  • Build up good relationship with local tax authority;
  • Manage/coordinate and negotiate the local tax audits; Deal with ad-hoc queries from local authorities.
  • Review of financial data and related tax reporting and forecasting
  • Analyse financial data and identify improvement opportunities for taxation matter
  • Support management by supplying financial information for steering and developing the taxation issue in China, provide related improvement suggestions, and identify risks and opportunities
  • Establish, develop, optimise processes and capabilities, looking to replace manual work by automation
  • Harmonise and optimise ways of working and participate in the development of the tax management in the different Wartsila entities in China

 

Requirements and Skills:

  • Strong understanding of tax regulations/policies and accounting theory
  • 5-8 years relevant experience in MNC, preferably as Tax Officer.
  • Strong business understanding combined with a few years of Wärtsilä or related business experience. An established internal network of contacts in Wartsila is considered an advantage

  • Analytical and structural skills
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Ability to work independently as well as in teams
  • Highly skilled in use of tools such as SAP, HFM, QlikView and excel
  • Deliver top-quality work according to deadlines and high-level expectations
  • Fluency in both written and spoken English
  • Proficient with Office software and tax system; SAP knowledge is a plus.
