Workshop Manager
A dynamic Workshop Manager to lead business and capacity development in our Shanghai and Guangzhou workshops. This role emphasizes driving workshop business expansion and fostering team development, ensuring enhanced performance and market alignment. The workshop Manager will focus on developing workshop business, nurturing team capabilities, implementing operational improvements, and steering the workshops towards substantial growth and market capture.
Your main responsibilities are:
- Strategic Business Development: Act as the driving force behind workshop business expansion in China, identifying growth opportunities and developing strategic initiatives to capitalize on market potential.
- Workshop Development, Capacity Optimization & Competence Development: Spearhead initiatives to enhance the workshop's capabilities, optimize capacity according to market demands, and foster competence development amongst team members.
- Quality Assurance & Continuous Improvement: Implement rigorous quality assurance protocols and foster a culture of continuous improvement to elevate operational standards and processes.
- Stakeholder Collaboration & Team Leadership: Cultivate strong relationships with key stakeholders and lead the team effectively, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives and promoting a collaborative environment.
- Customer Engagement & Sales Support: Proactively engage with customers to ascertain their needs, ensuring their satisfaction through quality service, while collaborating with sales teams to enhance proposal quality and accuracy.
- Operational Excellence & Efficiency: Oversee daily operations to ensure processes are streamlined, efficient, and aligned with both company and industry quality standards.
- Budget Management & Cost Control: Manage the workshop's budget precisely, ensuring resources are utilized optimally without compromising on quality.
- Safety, Compliance & Environmental Responsibility: Promote adherence to safety protocols, compliance mandates, and environmental standards, ensuring a secure, compliant, and responsible operational framework.
You will shine in this role when you have:
- A bachelor’s degree in engineering, or an equivalent technical qualification, is required.
- Must be proficient in the English language and possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in workshop management or a related leadership role is necessary, with a preference for experience in the marine sector.
- Must have excellent knowledge of Wartsila’s marine product portfolio, including engines and propulsion systems or similar products.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills are essential.
- Proven leadership skills with the ability to inspire and motivate a diverse team towards achieving business growth objectives in China.
