The Business Analyst plays a critical role in bridging the gap between business stakeholders and the IT development team. You will be responsible for analysing business processes, identifying needs, and developing strategies to improve business processes through software solutions. Ensuring that software development aligns with business objectives and requirements will be at the heart of your work.
We are seeking a dynamic individual to join our team. This is a permanent opportunity, and the possible locations are Pandan Cresent, Singapore or Sydney, Australia.
As a Business Analyst, your key responsibilities will include:
- Gather and analyse project related data.
- Engage with stakeholders to gather comprehensive business and technical requirements.
- Document and translate business needs into clear technical specifications and user stories.
- Conduct gap analysis and feasibility studies to recommend improvements.
- Stakeholder Management - Manage stakeholder expectations and prioritize project needs effectively.
- Act as the primary liaison between business stakeholders and the IT development team.
- Facilitate communication to ensure mutual understanding and alignment of expectations.
- Collect, process, and analyse data to identify relevant trends, patterns, and insights.
- Develop and maintain data-driven products and solutions such as dashboards and reports to visualize data findings and support decision-making processes.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to effectively understand data analytic needs, data availability and requirements.
- Advise and support business users in data management, use of analytics solutions and data-driven business improvement, improving stakeholder data literacy and understanding of data insights and how to utilize them effectively.
- Enforce data management policies and implements appropriate data collection and validation techniques to assure the integrity, quality, availability, and utility of information and data.
- Continuously improve data and analytical processes for example by improving system interconnectivity and data lakes and adopting new tools and techniques for data management and analysis.
- Maintain safe and clean working environment by enforcing safety procedures, rules, and regulations both on client site and within Wartsila office premises.
- Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
- Maintain the integrity with company & client intellectual property.
- Project Management Support
- Support project planning, monitoring, and reporting activities to ensure timely delivery.
- Assist in the creation of project plans, timelines, and key milestones.
- Monitor project progress and proactively address any emerging issues.
To be successful in this role, we expect you to have the following qualifications and skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Proven experience as a Business Analyst in software development projects, with a solid understanding of software development life cycles.
- Experience working with Agile methodologies and tools (e.g., JIRA, Confluence).
- Knowledge of the Marine Industry or Port Operations is a distinct advantage.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively in English.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Exceptional attention to detail, organizational skills, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
