The Role of the Growth & Development Team at Wärtsilä Energy
The Growth & Development team at Wärtsilä Energy is a key function in our market engagement, sales strategy, and strategic alignment. We work closely with our sales and technology teams to identify the best markets for our solutions. Our expertise is split into two main areas: Market Development, where we analyse and tailor our offerings to fit perfectly in our focus markets, and Project Development, where we team up with sales to lead initiatives, create compelling value propositions, and structure and execute deals. While our primary focus is on originating sales opportunities and driving projects, we also bridge the gap between corporate strategy and its real-world execution in the Area.
About the position
We are looking for a Financial & Market Analyst to support our Market and Project Development teams in Middle East & Asia. The preferred location will be Pandan Crescent, Singapore.

As an Analyst, your role will include:
- Market Development:
- Evaluate country-level power system analyses and models together with the global modelling team
- Create market-level value propositions, materials, and business proposals to target customers using Microsoft Excel and Python models
- Influence and approach customers to discuss and validate value propositions to create sales opportunities in new markets
- Engage in external stakeholder advocacy and vocalize personal though leadership activities (LinkedIn, speaking engagements, etc.)
- Develop, maintain, and update Python script
- Project Development:
- Support the sales organisation with technology comparison studies, feasibility and tariff studies, and more
- Support project development teams with bid proposals, project development structuring and implementation, screening investment opportunities and partners, investment approvals, and arranging project finance (debt and equity)
- Develop, maintain, and update feasibility calculation tools and pro-forma financial models
- Strategy & Operations:
- Contribute to the implementation of the Wärtsilä Energy Business strategy by providing regular reporting and participating in cross-functional collaboration
- Support the Country Strategy & Action Plans for all key countries in the Middle East & Asia area
- Drive and influence the direction and strategic approach of the Technology and Research & Development teams through internal studies
- Assist in the development and implementation of marketing and communication strategies in the designated area
- Support day-to-day team activities and administration
To succeed in this role, you should have the following:
- Qualifications: hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Finance, Energy, or Economics or another field that supports the task.
- Experience: The position is suitable for a recently graduated candidate or a person with up to 1 year of work experience.
- Languages: You need to be fluent in English; another Asian language would be an advantage.
A successful candidate will have a positive and proactive approach and demonstrate ownership and responsibility for driving their own work. The person we are looking for has excellent analytical skills, a good understanding of financial analysis, and advanced skills in MS tools. Strong modelling abilities are essential, and having proficiency in Python would be a valuable asset. You are a team player with good communication and interpersonal skills, an interest in the energy sector and a willingness to travel within the Area for approximately 15 to 20% of the time.
