Wärtsilä Singapore is looking for a lawyer, to support its Energy Business (Middle East & Asia) team. The position is a permanent opportunity and will be based in Singapore. 

 

What are your main task and responsibilities? 

  • Support the Energy Business by providing solutions-oriented and proactive legal advice and assistance on all matters concerning sales and life-cycle solutions.
  • Support and advise the Business on contracting matters: negotiating, drafting and advising on commercial contracts including highlighting and reviewing commercial and operational risks in projects. 
  • Manage and liaise with external counsel with a focus on controlling external legal spend. 
  • Attend Wärtsilä Australia management meetings when required and provide advice on legal issues to the Business  keeping them informed of any relevant changes.
  • Provide training to the business on relevant legal and compliance issues.
  • Actively participate in the implementation and development of Wärtsilä policies and work processes.

 

What do we expect from you?
A.    Education:

  • Qualified lawyer in a common law or civil law jurisdiction (ideally Australia qualified)

 

B.    Experience:

  • Have a minimum of 5 years work experience in either a private practice or in-house role
  • Project development experience desirable but not mandatory 

 

C.    Other skills:

  • Good negotiation skills, commercial acumen coupled with the readiness to travel
  • Solid drafting, presentation and communication skills
  • Risk management: identifying risks and assisting with contracting mitigation
  • Ability to work in a multi-cultural organisation and virtual teams
  • Have a good understanding of construction and operations & maintenance issues
  • Be team oriented with a positive attitude
