Project Engineer

Wärtsilä Customer Delivery MEA RoA is seeking for a Project Engineer in Singapore. This position will include an initial introductory period of being stationed in Wärtsilä China Shanghai to learn from Project Engineer and Project Managers for supporting the projects in China. You will gain valuable international experience and contribute to our global operations.

 

This is a permanent position located at Pandan Crescent, Singapore.

 

What you will be doing:
As Project Engineer, your work will focus on these responsibilities:

  • Manage (plan, steer, follow-up, analyse and report) the contracted customer delivery projects in close co-operation with the project team, and according to project execution plans.
  • Safeguard that the project related works are executed according to contract specifications and design directives and planned cost budget.
  • Plan the works with the total cost and with customer needs in focus.
  • Provide technical support to customer in project execution stage and in pre-project stage (when requested), with the ability to manage both engine- and propulsion products.
  • Prepare and provide the customer with project specific technical documentation.
  • Participate in the process of preparing the contract for execution, in close cooperation with the local sales team.
  • Generate Purchase Order Requests and Service notifications for the project material and labour needs, manage internal orders etc.
  • Maintain the daily contacts with the customer in close co-operation with the Project Manager.
  • Monitor and alarm the risks foreseen in the contracted projects.
  • Understand the marine offshore business and comply with the respective project- and its contractual requirements accordingly.
  • Participate in customer negotiations when needed.
  • Maintain good customer relationships.

 

To be successful in this role, we expect you to have:

  • Technical education (Bsc / Msc) with general knowledge of naval, mechanical, electrical/automation or process engineering.
  • At least 5 years relevant experience, preferably in the Marine industry.
  • Experiences in having managed engine or propulsion products as a Project Engineer would be a plus.
  • Good understanding of the marine offshore business (to comply with the respective project- and its contractual requirements accordingly).
  • Good Proficiency in Chinese, written and spoken to communicate with the customers and shipyards in China.

  • Self-motivated to deliver results, is prepared to take initiative and make decisions where appropriate
  • Structured and efficient, yet is also consistently accurate and attentive to the detail
  • Flexible, positive, curious and willing to learn
  • Willing to travel internationally, if required
  • Interested in progression to project management roles
