The Sales Expert (SE) for Simulation will have knowledge, direct experience, and subject matter expertise in Technology Simulation (Engine Room, Cargo handling and shipboard technical systems). The primary responsibility of the Sales Expert (SE) is to close business by winning opportunities using his/ her technical (domain) expertise, market knowledge and market network. The SE works primarily on a regional basis and works closely together with the Sales Manager/s who have Sales responsibility in a geographical area, or for specific solutions within the region (Asia Pacific)

 

We are now looking for a Sales Expert - Simulation to join our team, Sales Asia Pacific.This is a permanent opportunity and possible location is Singapore.

 

As a Sales Expert - Simulation, your work will focus on these responsibilities:

Sales & Business Development

  • Realization of Order Intake in the region for designated solutions.

  • Customer interactions across the assigned region, close business using domain expertise.

  • Support customer with subject matter expertise and promote Wärtsilä solutions.


Account Management

  • The SE is the key lead in the Region in keeping existing customers up to date with new developments regarding the assigned domain. The goal is to secure system upgrades and enhancements through continued long term relationships. This can be achieved via seminars, webex or planned trips in specific territories (coordinated with the Sales manager).

  • Support and review technical queries from customers and help position potential solutions to the problem. Escalate within the organization when necessary.


Reporting

  • Timely reporting using the correct formats to keep the organisation informed

  • Contributing to strategic planning, regional plans, forecasting, budgets and promotion plans
     

Product Development

  • Provide market intelligence and product improvements to Solutions.

  • Represent Wärtsilä at Industry Exhibitions, (Partner) conferences, etc.

  • Support customer trials, field tests and POC’s with product expertise and positioning to the customer.

 

To be successful in this role, we expect you to have:

  • Higher Education (Master / Bachelor) in technical domain

  • Knowledge, direct experience, and subject matter expertise in Marine Navigation, cargo handling and shipboard technical systems

  • 3 years of sales experience in the maritime sector or B2B sales preferred

  • Onboard Marine experience is required.

  • Solution based / Strategic selling methodology or willingness to learn

  • Public speaking/ Presentation skills

  • Working knowledge of Office (essential), ERP and CRM (advantage) applications.

  • Ability and willingness to travel (national and internationally), estimated to 30-40%

  • Eager to sell, entrepreneur style, able to close deals

  • Strong work ethic

  • Autonomous to fulfil tasks

  • Excellent analytical skills

  • Open to new technology and environment that is in a constant change

  • Team player with good interpersonal and communication skills, social and outgoing

  • International network and crosscultural understanding is an advantage
