Sales Support Engineer

We are looking for Sales Support Engineer, Shaft Line Solutions to join Sales, South East Asia team in Singapore. This is a permanent opportunity, and the location is Pandan Crescent, Singapore.  

 

As a Sales Support Engineer, you will be part of the Shaft Line Solutions (SLS) Area Sales team within the global Sales & Delivery organization. This team drives business growth in the Commercial Marine market through proactive engagement with ship owners, ship management companies, shipyards, and partners for new build projects and lifecycle vessel support. 

 

You will provide comprehensive sales support for commercial markets and occasionally naval sectors, ensuring a seamless customer experience. This role reports to the Regional Sales Manager, South East Asia. 

 

What you will be doing: 


As a Sales Support Engineer, your work will focus on these responsibilities: 

  • Generate customer-specific solutions, specifications, and quotations according to the needs of Sales, for the SLS portfolio for lifecycle services. 

  • Support the sales manager with bid management. 

  • Evaluate inquiries and register/maintain opportunity information in CRM. 

  • Support sales manager to configure solutions according to defined needs. 

  • Work with the sales manager to prepare cost calculations according to directives and agreed targets. 

  • Follow up with customer after quotation had been submitted. 

  • Identify, develop, and manage existing and new customer relationships  

  • Manage relationships and cooperation with the Wärtsilä sales network and agents (where applicable). 

  • Ensure data in Sales procedures, process and CRM is managed up to date 

  • Ensure Opportunity management is kept up to date and accurate 

  • Evaluate technical and environmental risks of the solution. 

  • Support Spares Parts Coordination team in upsell opportunities 

  • Ensure that response times for sales inquiries/requests/orders are met. 

  • Provide technical assistance to the sales team and customers. 

  • Participate in relevant sales meetings with customers when required. 

  • Organize and perform relevant process handover meetings with involved parties. 

 

 

To be successful in this role, we expect you to have: 

 

  • Min. of 5 years of experience in a related field from the maritime industry.  

  • Diploma or Bachelor's degree in mechanical or marine engineering. 

  • Proficiency in reading mechanical drawings 

  • Skills in Microsoft Office, CRM tools, and preferably SAP.   

  • Ability to thrive in a multicultural and international environment. 

  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills  

  • Ability to create a clear business value with a goal-oriented mindset. 

  • Strong focus on safety, customer satisfaction, and adaptability with a self-driven mindset.  

  • Willingness to travel (30-40%).  

  • Additional advantages include solid technical knowledge in the Marine Industry, and prior experience with Wärtsilä SLS products and systems.
