Senior Technical Expert, 2-stroke engines

We are looking for a Senior Technical Expert for 2-Stroke Services. This is a permanent opportunity, and its location is Singapore.


What will you be doing as Senior Technical Expert? Your work will focus on these responsibilities:

 

  • Be responsible for handling of customer's technical inquiries in a comprehensive and supportive manner.
  • Support the development of strategic 2-stroke businesses and customers in MEA technically and act as a 2-stroke technical consultant to our internal teams towards customer.
  • Perform Audits and be active in capturing new sales opportunities (leads)
  • Manage and solve complex technical and operating problems solving activities of the customers.
  • Make analysis with adequate conclusions and recommendations (reports) for how to solve complex technical problems of the customer. Report the related work progress to relevant stakeholders.
  • Communicate and propose improvement needs of the products and solutions for relevant internal stakeholders.
  • Provide technical support to internal and external customers.
  • Analyses field experience and customer feedback data in order to improve the products and solutions as well as operation and maintenance of the installation.
  • Support in technical matters when new products or components are developed and launched.
  • Proactively work to enable cross-divisional and cross-organizational cooperation.
  • Coach and mentor less experienced technical experts and field service engineers.
  • Participate in customer and/or internal meetings as a technical leader, when complex technical matters are handled.
  • Share technical knowledge to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ensure knowhow and professional competence development within respective technical expert area.
  • Ensure the implementation of the processes and tools according to business as well as Quality, Health, Safety and Environmental guidelines.

 

To be successful in this role, we expect you to have:

 

  • M. Sc. or B. Sc. in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent educational background.
  • Experience with and knowledge of Wartsila/WinGD 2-stroke engines.
  • The ability to write thorough and accurate reports.
  • Strong analytical skills, a good eye for detail, and capability to approach technical issues methodologically and analytically.
  • Customer-oriented mindset with a drive to ensure high level quality of service.
  • Excellent interpersonal and collaboration skills, along with the ability to work independently.
  • Very good English language level, both verbal and written.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills.
  • Passion for learning and for development of new technologies, along with willingness to adapt.
     

You will be at an advantage with:

  • Experience of working with Field Service.
  • Experience with and knowledge of Wärtsilä products.
  • Experience of working in customer service.
  • Prefer Wartsila/WinGD 2st-XDF knowledge and experience.
