We are now looking for an Automation Engineer to join our PCS (Propulsion Control System) team.
The position is permanent, and the location could be Stord or Moss (Norway), Trieste (Italy) or Shanghai (China)

 

What you will be doing 

 

As an Automation Engineer, your work will include electrical and automation design for our Propulsion Control Systems products. On a typical day, you might be involved in the creation of electrical drawings for our PCS equipment and the preparation of technical documentation for our customers. You will not be working on this alone, even though the work requires a high level of independence, as you will have support from the complete PCS team, which includes engineering as well as product development.

In the PCS team, our mission is to provide market-leading systems for manoeuvrability, station keeping, and control of vessels in maritime industries.
The Propulsion Control System covers the local and the remote control systems for all Wartsila Propulsion equipment. The local control systems are cabinets that are delivered with the respective propulsion unit and, are the brains of the propulsion unit and communicate with the remote control system. The remote control system contains parts like levers and displays for the bridge and engine control room stations.

 

As an Automation Engineer, your work will focus on these responsibilities:


•    Creation of electrical drawings and layout drawings
•    Implementation of customer specifications
•    Release of Bill of Materials
•    Preparation of technical documentation, including Installation Planning Instructions, Factory Acceptance Test, and Operation Manual
•    Develop software application packages within the functional specifications of the project
•    Assure on-time delivery of the engineering milestones 
•    Provide support during sales, production and commissioning 

 

To be successful in this role, we expect you to have:

•    Minimum of a Technical high school diploma in electrics, electronics, automation
•    Understanding and/or experience with Electrical and Automation systems
•    Computer skills, MS Office suite
•    Competent user of AutoCAD
•    Advanced English, both written and spoken
•    Multitasking and customer-oriented approach
•    Willingness to join an international team and environment
