Project Manager, Ship Electrification Propulsion Systems

Within Ship Electrification Solutions (SES) we are a world-leading total supplier of electric and hybrid solutions for the marine industry. Our products range from Shaft Generators, Electric Propulsion Systems to Hybrid Solutions and shore power. We are planning to strengthen our energetic, ambitious, and enthusiastic team with a Project Manager with knowledge of the marine industry as well as electrical power systems.

 

As a Project Manager for Hybrid Electric Propulsion Systems, you will deliver a variety of highly innovative integrated electrical system projects, including battery hybrid and full electric solutions to both the newbuild ships and retrofit upgrades.You will lead a project team through all stages from engineering design to delivery and commissioning of a project in the global maritime market.

 

This is a permanent position in Stord, Norway. 

 

Your work will focus on these responsibilities:

  • Leading, managing, and developing your assigned project team.
  • Planning and leading the execution of assigned projects through all phases of the project lifecycle from start-up to project closure for example:
    • Leading the engineering phase to align customer functional requirements and expectations with your engineering team and managing the integration of sub-systems both within our product line as well as across other Wärtsilä product lines to meet customer requirements and expectations.
    • Managing the procurement and delivery phase together with your assigned procurement, logistics, and trade finance team members.
    • Plan and manage the commissioning phase to ensure field service team members demonstrate system operation for customer final acceptance.
  • This will require you to steer the project and work with the team to solve any challenges that may arise.
  • You will work in a multi-product team across geographic areas on leading technology solutions for the marine industry.
  • You will be representing Wärtsilä to our customers ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction to expand our prospects.
  • Taking ownership of the cost, quality, and schedule of your projects
  • Manage and develop relationships with internal and external stakeholders from suppliers to customers.
  • Actively participate in sales support, bid work, and customer visits.

 

To be successful in this role, you should have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in an electrical/systems/automation field
  • Experience with integrating marine electrical/automation systems
  • Experience as a project manager
  • Good business sense
  • Understanding of the key project methodologies such as PRINCE2 or PMBoK
  • Good language skills in English, orally and in writing
  • Language skills in Norwegian is a benefit but not required
