Sales Support Engineer - SES Retrofit Sales organisation - Stord, Norway 


In Wärtsilä, the Project Services organisation has 400 professionals in many locations globally and has responsibility for newbuild/retrofit projects from sales to delivery. This part of Wärtsilä includes sales organisation.
In the Project Sales organisation, large and complex retrofits on vessels are handled which are often related to efficiency improvement and decarbonisation.
Wärtsilä is aiming to support our customers on their decarbonisation journey towards a more sustainable future in the marine and energy industry and has committed to finding solutions enabling the use of zero-carbon fuel before 2030.
Our customers within the maritime and offshore industry are supplied with complex energy systems during this journey, and Wärtsilä assists them with supplying both conventional propulsion systems as well as battery and hybrid systems with high power and low pollution.

 

What you will be doing 

 

We are looking for a competent electrical engineer with energy and competency in sales of electrical systems. You will report to General Manager, Hybrid retrofit sales, and you will be working together externally with customers and internally with electrical engineers from specialist departments and Sales Managers / Account Managers worldwide. You will be given personal development opportunities through dealing with networking and customer relationships in an international working environment. 
While a readiness to travel is required, it's important to note that meetings are also conducted virtually.

 

The preferred location of the position is Stord, Norway, other European main hubs can be considered (Vaasa, Finland and Hamburg, Germany).

 

As a Sales Support Engineer, your work will focus on these responsibilities: 

 

  • Handling sales support of E&A equipment delivered from Norway on vessels with direct contact to dedicated ship owners.
  • Prepare sales price calculations for E&A solutions to the marine customers of Wärtsilä.
  • Sales offerings will include preparations of technical and commercial documentation.
  • You will perform technical support to Wärtsilä global sales teams as well as give support to our customers during the sales phase.
  • You will participate in decision-making for the content and scope of solutions, building the basis for our customer offerings.

 
To be successful in this role we expect you to have:
 

  • Preferably you hold a Bachelor’s / Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent and have a few years of working experience.
  • A good understanding of electrical power systems, and knowledge of electrical power systems of ships is a benefit.
  • You are customer and supplier-oriented and are eager to develop yourself in the role, first experience in sales would be a benefit.
  • You have strong analytical thinking capability and excellent communication skills in English, verbal and written.
  • You can handle multiple project offerings simultaneously and achieve results. In addition, you are independent and show initiative with an entrepreneurial spirit.
  • Experience working as an engineer in the marine industry is highly desirable
