We are looking for a Technical Expert with a main responsibility in Support & Engineering on SES (Ship Electrification Solutions) Hybrid systems to external customers and internally in Wärtsilä.

 

The preferred location for this position is Stord, Norway.



Your role and responsibilities

 

In Technical Service SES, we are providing technical support on Energy management systems, switchboards, generators, electrical motors, transformers, frequency converters and battery hybrid systems.

 

As a Technical Expert your work will focus on providing technical advice, failure analysis, condition analysis and support to the other services department activities (Sales Support; Projects; Field service) and marine solutions. You will also perform field testing, site surveys and related analysis on request-basis. You will contribute with input to necessary product improvement actions based on field feedback screening and analysis results. Based on your experience, you will potentially provide inputs to maintenance recommendations and intervals. Your responsibilities also include providing support and knowledge for reconditioning and retrofit activities, as well as update product databases and documentation if a modification is made to an installation.

 

 

Requirements for the position:

 

  • BSc or MSc within the field of electrical and automation (documented relevant experience may compensate for lack of formal education)
  • A few years working experience and technical skills in power distribution systems, frequency converters or automation systems and Energy Management systems

 

 

To be able to succeed in the position we expect you to have:

 

  • Analytical problem-solving skills and competencies in using engineering and software tools and are skilled when it comes to technical writing
  • Strong customer focus because as a company we focus on customer needs and satisfaction and set high standards for quality
  • Good communication skills as you will communicate internally and externally, and should also be capable of working in different environments and teams
  • Good command of English and Norwegian, both oral and written
