Obsolescence Survey Engineer

Wärtsilä France is a service company specialising in energy solutions, after-sales service for gas and diesel engines, automation and propulsion.  

 

Our company currently employs 450 people in France, for customers based all over the world.  

 

We are now looking for a 

 

Obsolescence Survey Engineer

 

We are recruiting for permanent contracts at our Surgères site (150 employees), which specialises in the reconditioning of high-speed engines.

 

What you will be doing 

 

Working within the Qualification, Product, and Technical Management department, your main role will be to:

 

  • Monitor technical developments in our engines, including developments due to obsolescence management.
  • Proactively manage the resolution of obsolescence in conjunction with the Supply Chain and the Technical Department
  • Synthesise and capitalise on feedback from our customers
  • Create "Tech Request" notifications in order to identify, register and track cases of obsolescence,  
  • Monitor the updating of nomenclatures in conjunction with the Master Data Engineer
  • Write Technical Bulletins for our customers to declare technical changes and obsolescence, with recommendations for a Safety Stock or Last Buy order.
  • Act as the main contact for the Contract Management team

 

Acting as the main contact for the Contract and Agreement Management team, and drafting documents for them, for our customers and in connection with the contractual deliverables, such as:

 

  • Technical evolution reports 
  • Obsolescence reports
  • Feedback reports
  • Training recommendations
  • Participate in technical and commercial meetings with customers, in order to present reports

 

To be successful in this role, we expect you to have the following: 

 

  • With 5 years' higher education or equivalent in a technical field, you will have experience in an industrial environment (preferably nuclear, aeronautical or automotive). 
  • You have good analytical and summarising skills, and your autonomy, rigour and organisation will enable you to feel at ease in this position.
  • You have a good level of English (written and spoken) and are at ease with all IT tools (Pack Office).  
  • You will be able to put forward suggestions for improving existing operating methods.
