We are now looking for a

 

Product Support Engineer H/F
 
to join the team in Surgères, France. This entity is dedicated to the complete services of the equipment which can go up to the reconditioning of the emergency engines for certain nuclear power plants in the world and that of the engine of the Leclerc tank for the French army. You will be reporting to the Technical Service Manager within our Special Application entity.

 

Your work will focus on these responsibilities:

 

  • Technical Support to the Special Applications (SA) departments: 
    • receive the sometimes-complex technical problems concerning diesel engines from internal SA customers; 
    • analyse and identify the causes of the problem with all the parties concerned: internal customers or external suppliers; 
    • solve and report on the resolution of the problem through technical notes/reports, cause tree, presentation during customer meetings in assistance to Contract Management/Sales Management
  • Tech Request resolution: ensure technical responses, update technical documentation, resolve product obsolescence, provide internal and external customer support
  • Drafting of the technical specifications for the supply of new parts containing the product definition requirements, for the suppliers, 
  • Supervision of the test execution (possibility to interrupt and adapt the test severity or the test plan)
  • Unbiased evaluation of test results
  • Drafting of ASI Service Bulletins (official technical document for communication with the customer), 
  • Drafting of expert reports in the context of a "design change" validation of a component (interface with Supply Management/resume of QPTM) or following a damage or a specific request with customer order (interface with Contract Management/Sales Management/resume of QPTM)
  • Participation in QRQC L1, (meeting led by Workshop Services to follow and solve production blocking points), 
  • Supporting technical projects or obsolescence resolutions concerning parts, sub-assemblies, and certain engine auxiliaries through studies and by writing technical documentation, validation plans and reports. These activities are led by a Project Manager or a Technical and Obsolete Survey Engineer (interface with Contract Management/Sales Management/QPTM), 
  • Verification of the Quality and supplier documentation for the supply of new parts 
  • Ensure daily reporting (KPI), back up, support of other QPTM teams if needed

 

The missions are carried out while respecting the applicable rules as regards Quality, Safety and Environment, in accordance with the commitment of Wärtsilä.
Travel is to be expected in the amount of 6 per year (technical audits, technical validation of suppliers)

 

To be successful in this role, we expect you to have:

 

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in an industrial design office
  • Diesel engine technical expertise.
  • Master’s degree (preferably from ENSPM, ESTACA, ENSAM, IFP) or Bachelor’s degree + 2 years of additional experience 
  • An advanced level of written and spoken English Ability to convince your interlocutors.
  • Rigor, Organization, Autonomy
  • Team spirit and interpersonal skills, you have a sense of service.
  • Ability to optimise existing solutions.
