Wärtsilä Energy Storage & Optimisation is now looking for a Senior Strategic Purchaser to support the Electric Power Conversion System category in China within the Strategic Sourcing department. The role will be part of the Supply Management Group.
Preferable positions are based in Suzhou, China (but, not limited to).
What will you be doing?
For the global Energy Storage supplier base, the Sr Strategic Purchaser is responsible for the suppliers selection, business allocation and management (mainly in the APAC region) as well as for suppliers purchasing agreements, price negotiations and continuous improvement of performance in terms of lead time, costs development, delivery accuracy, to ensure conformance with product and project requirements as well as first time right deliveries.

Responsibilities In this role, your main responsibility is to manage and develop supplier base, performance, relationships, and negotiations in close cooperation with Product Development, Supplier Quality and Development and other key internal stakeholders.
This includes:
- Identify optimal suppliers for our customer delivery projects
- Negotiating, creating and updating of supply agreements
- Ensure Quality, Delivery, Lead Time and Cost development of materials and services for own area of responsibility.
- Lead/support/participate in negotiations, secure capacity and forecasting
- Strong solution-oriented approach, capability to implement and persistency to follow-up activities to ensure cost effective and resilient supply chain
Other responsibilities:
- Analyse future supply demand in cooperation with the needed functions
- Gather and analyse spend and supplier data, execute benchmarking, provide data to the relevant functions
- Secure compliance to Supply Management processes/procedures, strategies and agreements
- Execute/support material/services for cost budgeting and follow-up
- Execute/support supplier selection/rationalization process.
Requirements
As an ideal candidate, you would have:
- 5+ years’ experience Supplier selection and management in PCS (Inverter, Transformer, Switchgears), power systems, renewables or energy storage industry, background in power electronics will be perceived as an advantage
- Proactive, solution oriented and “make things happen” -attitude
- B.Sc. / M.Sc. in Engineering and/or Economics
- Excellent negotiation and presentation skills
- Good communication and team working skills
- Strong problem solving and analytical skills
- Target and result oriented attitude
- Fluency in English, other languages are seen as an advantage
- Willingness to travel.
